Liverpool ‘to sanction £100m plus bid for Alexander Isak’ – Exclusive
Liverpool could be set to sanction a bid for Alexander Isak that would exceed £100million.
The Newcastle forward has notched 19 goals and five assists in 25 Premier League appearances this season, and that has piqued the Reds’ interest.
Arne Slot is underwhelmed with the options at his disposal in attack despite his side sitting 12 points clear at the Premier League summit.
Julian Alvarez is another name that has been mentioned as an option for the Anfield outfit, but he would also cost a significant fee.

Liverpool to sanction Isak or Alvarez move
Liverpool are set for a rebuild this summer, and a number one is near the top of the list due to the inconsistent form of the likes of Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez.
A high-profile, high-fee attacking addition is required, and both options could cost a significant chunk of the Reds’ transfer budget.
However, speaking exclusively to Liverpool News, finance expert Dan Plumley does not believe that the fee will be an issue for the Reds.
He said: “I don’t think the fee is an issue there, £100million, it’s whether Liverpool want to pay that fee, I think the affordability point is fine for a club of Liverpool’s size and stature.
“I think the fly in the ointment, so to speak, with this one is where those two players are at currently, if it is to be those two, and Isak would be the one I would mention, because Newcastle will not want to sell that player.

“They could kind of dig their heels in and hold any club to ransom a little bit more, especially if it is a Premier League rival, and Newcastle might get in the Champions League themselves this season.
“I think Liverpool will probably have an idea of who their number one target is, but I think that the Newcastle factor in that if it is Isak, less so with Alvarez, is an interesting one that we need to be mindful of because that might impact the fee that is being talked about and whether Liverpool are ready to pay that price.”

Isak would be the best bet for Liverpool
If the Reds can secure a deal with the Magpies for the Swedish attacker, it would be a major upgrade on their current options.
With the Anfield outfit on course for the Premier League title, it would be an enticing destination for Isak, but the negotiations with the North East outfit will be difficult as they as desperate to keep their star man.
