Mohamed Salah new contract: Huge Liverpool update emerges from Egypt

Liverpool are currently dealing with a huge dilemma, as three of their key stars are all out of contract at the end of the season.

Trent Alexander-Arnold now looks set to join Real Madrid, in a move which has angered large portions of the Liverpool fanbase.

Virgil van Dijk’s future is also unclear, and losing the centre-back would be a devastating blow for Arne Slot.

Mohamed Salah has enjoyed his best campaign at Liverpool yet, but there is no guarantee that he will be at Anfield next season, although there has now been a promising update on his situation.

Salah contract update emerges from Egypt

After months of uncertainty and few updates from Salah’s camp, a report from Egypt has now claimed that a new contract is on the horizon for the 32-year-old.

Egyptian outlet Masrawy has claimed that Liverpool have made their biggest offer yet to the winger.

“Liverpool’s management has opened negotiations with Rami Abbas, Mohamed Salah’s agent, to renew the Egyptian star’s contract with Liverpool for the time being,” they reported.

“Negotiations between Liverpool and Rami Abbas, Salah’s agent, are much more advanced this time than ever before, and the offer presented is higher than any offer made to the player before.”

It is said that an impending exit for Alexander-Arnold will play a huge role in negotiations for the Egyptian superstar to stick around on Merseyside.

Liverpool must keep hold of Salah

Losing Alexander-Arnold is a huge blow for Slot and Liverpool, but there is a positive from his expected departure, as it will create more room on the wage bill to facilitate a new contract for Salah.

Despite his age, Salah’s output this season has been better than ever, and there is no other winger in the world performing at his level.

Losing both Salah and Alexander-Arnold in the same summer would be truly disastrous, but keeping the Egyptian would help Slot in what is likely to be a transitional season next year, with plenty of squad changes across the pitch.

Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez have all been linked with exits, and replacing all of them as well as Salah would have been a mammoth task.

However, if Salah stays, he will almost guarantee another strong season in front of goal, which would ease the pressure on the rest of what will likely be a new-look front line.
