Liverpool star Curtis Jones sends Jude Bellingham message after England win

Liverpool star Curtis Jones had a successful international break with England, with wins over both Albania and Latvia at Wembley.

The Liverpool-born midfielder was named in Thomas Tuchel’s first Three Lions starting 11 against Albania on Friday and impressed alongside Arsenal’s Declan Rice.

England then defeated Latvia 3-0 on Monday, while Jones replaced Aston Villa’s on-loan star Marcus Rashford in the closing stages of the game.

Jones has done his Three Lions credentials no harm, while Tuchel’s men made a perfect start to World Cup qualifying with two wins from two.

Jones congratulates Bellingham after England beat Latvia

Jones will be hoping to be back in the England frame when Tuchel’s men take on both Andorra and Senegal in June.

Jones has had a good start to his Three Lions career

But for now, the 24-year-old can be proud of what he achieved for the Three Lions this month.

After England beat Latvia, Real Madrid superstar Jude Bellingham wrote on Instagram: “2/2 start as we mean to go on,” accompanied by an England flag.

Liverpool’s Jones was quick to share the victory celebrations, replying with a flexed biceps emoji.

Liverpool and Jones must bounce back after international break

Jones largely thrived while on international duty for England and made an excellent account of himself under new boss Tuchel.

But his last two outings for the Reds were significantly less positive, as the Merseyside giants were knocked out of the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain on 11 March before being beaten by Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final.

Jones saw his spot-kick saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma when Liverpool were beaten by the French giants on penalties, while the Premier League is the only trophy still available to Arne Slot’s men.

Thankfully for the Reds, they hold an unassailable 12-point lead over second-place Arsenal with just nine top-flight games remaining.

But Slot and Co will be vying to get back to winning ways nonetheless as they look to enjoy a positive end to what has been a successful campaign.

Up next, regional pride is at stake when Liverpool hosts Merseyside Derby rivals Everton at Anfield on 2 April, and local hero Jones will be looking to make his mark on the fixture.
