Collymore reacts to Alexander-Arnold exit revelation, says Liverpool fans are wrong
Liverpool fans have been in uproar as news emerged that Trent Alexander-Arnold is closing in on a move to Real Madrid.
Alexander-Arnold is out of contract at the end of the season and is now set to leave on a free transfer to join the European champions.
Whilst some Liverpool fans are grateful for the years of service the defender has given the club, many are outraged that a local boy and academy product is running down his contract to exit for no fee.
Former Liverpool star Stan Collymore has now weighed in on the situation, and has given his verdict over the feud between fans and the England defender over his future.

Stan Collymore defends Trent Alexander-Arnold over Liverpool exit
Collymore has now claimed that despite his extra ties to Liverpool as a Scouser, Alexander-Arnold has the right to leave to progress his own career.
“Even if he is a Scouser, even if he is imbued as a Liverpool supporter on the Kop, that he writes contracts, signs contracts to do business with Liverpool Football Club. And that’s the difference,” Collymore told talkSPORT.

“He’s not joined Liverpool Football Club and been paid handsomely and said ‘I’m going to be here forever because I’m a Liverpool fan’
“It’s a two-way street. If he’d have barely broken into the first team and made 50 appearances, this kid’s going to be great and he breaks his leg against Everton in the derby and unfortunately can’t play again or he has aborted attempts to come back and play again. Liverpool would have binned him off.
“Let’s have it right Liverpool fans, they get rid. And he doesn’t have the legacy with Liverpool Football Club that he may have now.
“So it’s really important that all supporters detach themselves and they’re all mostly sane human beings, football supporters. We all get miffed when our hero leaves.”
Trent Alexander-Arnold seeking fresh start?
Alexander-Arnold has won every trophy on offer at Liverpool, and is on track to win a second Premier League title with his boyhood club this season.
After accomplishing everything he has at Anfield, he may simply be seeking a fresh start abroad, and the chance to compete in a different league alongside some of the world’s best players.
In a footballing sense, there is plenty of logic in his move, even if fans are angered by the fact that one of their best players will now leave with the club not receiving a fee for him.
There should perhaps be more blame placed on the club for allowing his contract to reach the final year, rather than anger directed at the defender for deciding to leave.
