Alexander Arnold ‘fortunate’ to join Real Madrid amid ‘nonsense’ Liverpool claim
Trent Alexander-Arnold has agreed to join Real Madrid on a free transfer from Liverpool this summer.
The England international has given the nod for a five-year deal worth in excess of £220,000 per week with Real Madrid, Alex Crook reported on talkSPORT’s website on Tuesday (25 March).
Therefore, Alexander-Arnold has made up his mind to end his long-term association with boyhood club Liverpool after months of speculation.

Alexander-Arnold lucky to join Real Madrid, says Simon Jordan
Crook provided further details about the transfer live on talkSPORT, with Simon Jordan insisting that he is not surprised to see Alexander-Arnold leave Liverpool.
However, the pundit took a swipe at the right-back by claiming that he is lucky to get a move to Real Madrid as he thinks the player is not as good as people rate him to be.

He also hit out at Liverpool fans who are demanding that the 26-year-old show his loyalty to the Reds by extending his stay at Anfield, describing those claims as “nonsense”.
Jordan added that Alexander-Arnold has already shown his loyalty by respecting his contract and ensuring that the transfer saga does not play out in public.
“Do I think he is as good as people make him out to be? I don’t think so and I think he’s quite fortunate to be getting a move to Real Madrid”, Jordan said on talkSPORT (25 March, 10:15 am).
“I think he’s a very good player, but I don’t think he features regularly in the England side.
“I don’t think he’s an international player that the England setup felt was the most reliable player to have in their setup at times, and I think he’s got a great move to Real Madrid.
“In terms of loyalty, people lose their minds over this nonsense. They lose their minds over what loyalty looks like.
“Your loyalty in football is to do your job under your contract, not engineer outcomes that disadvantage your football club, and not go on a strike when you don’t like something.
“Other than that, that’s the length and breadth of it.”
Liverpool to struggle without Alexander-Arnold
Jordan is wrong about Alexander-Arnold.
There is a reason why much has been said about Liverpool losing the right-back and the most successful club in Europe prioritising his signature.
Alexander-Arnold may not be taking his assists tally in the Premier League to double digits like he did in three seasons between 2018 and 2022, but he remains the Reds’ most creative player.
He continues to divide opinion among fans and pundits for his defensive abilities, but the truth is his influence goes beyond that.
In a way, it is unfair and rather ineffective to judge Alexander-Arnold by his position, right-back.
The Englishman’s ability to build attacks with a single pass makes him extraordinary.
Those who have watched him for Liverpool regularly would be familiar with his ability to slice through the several lines of press and defence with a single pass.
That is exactly why he is coveted by Real Madrid, where he is now set to strike a partnership with close friend and England teammate Jude Bellingham.
As for Liverpool, they will struggle to replace him directly, although they have the very talented Conor Bradley in their ranks.
