Liverpool fans all say same thing about latest Wataru Endo exit news at Anfield

Wataru Endo has had to settle for a reduced role at Liverpool this season.

The Japan midfielder enjoyed a surprise starting berth under Jurgen Klopp after his £16million move from Stuttgart in 2023, making 44 appearances for the Reds.

However, he did not fit Arne Slot‘s style of play and has featured just 14 times in the Premier League this season.

The Dutchman has realised the importance of the 67-cap international recently though and he has been brought on to see games out in recent weeks.

A report from German outfit Bild (24 March) claims that the Eintracht Frankfurt are looking to sign the Reds star if they qualify for the Champions League.

The 32-year-old has also been linked with Celtic and Wolves after a disappointing campaign at Anfield.

Liverpool fans want Endo to stay

Slot seems to have realised the value of the Japanese midfielder as the season comes to a conclusion.

The veteran has been sent on in six of the Reds’ last eight matches to see out narrow leads as they seek to win the league title.

Endo is a cult hero at Anfield due to his endless energy and work rate and Slot needs to trust him more in the final stages of the season if his side are to keep their commanding lead over Arsenal.

Ryan Gravenberch has looked tired in recent weeks and could be rested in favour of the former Bundesliga ace.

Reds supporters concerns are valid, the Merseysiders do not have a legitimate backup to the Dutch international if he is injured or needs a rest.

Of course, they could sign a player in the upcoming transfer window or utilise Stefan Bajcetic when he returns from his loan spell at Las Palmas but Endo’s influence off the pitch will be missed.

Eyebrows may have been raised when he signed for the club but he has proved a bargain and it would be a blow if he is allowed to leave.
