Alisson sends new message on injury ahead of Liverpool showdown v Everton

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has suffered a worrying head injury during international duty.

Alisson’s collision with Davinson Sanchez in Brazil’s 2-1 win over Colombia in the latest FIFA World Cup qualifiers saw the Liverpool shot-stopper forced off.

The Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) later released a statement confirming that Alisson is fine and feels no pain, but with the concussion protocols kicking in, he will undergo further checks.

The 32-year-old returned to Liverpool from the Brazil camp to recover and undergo various tests, and with fans worried, the goalkeeper has now issued a message.

Liverpool injury concerns ahead of the Merseyside derby

Arne Slot has been hit by a string of injury concerns in the last couple of weeks, with Trent Alexander-Arnold first picking up an ankle injury against Paris Saint-Germain.

Harvey Elliott and Ryan Gravenberch picked up knocks in the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle, but both will be ready for the Merseyside derby.

As part of the tests, Alisson will undergo a CT scan, imaging tests and diffusion MRI. If they are normal, he will then undergo cognitive tests before he can be cleared to take part at Anfield again.

With fans concerned, Alisson shared a message via Liverpool, saying: “Hey guys, just to let you know I’m fine. Just have to follow the protocols. Thanks for the messages.”

Ibrahima Konate injury concern for Liverpool

Like Alisson, Konate also had an injury concern during the international break.

The French defender was subbed off at half-time in France’s 2-0 defeat against Croatia, with his withdrawal because of a knock, missing out on the second leg victory on Sunday.

Konate’s knock doesn’t seem to be serious as he was named on the bench for the game, and despite not featuring, he was seen celebrating with his teammates freely as Les Bleus won on penalties to advance in the Nations League.

Slot would have had a sigh of relief for not losing Konate to injury, especially when several players in the squad have had recent concerns.

With a huge Merseyside derby just around the corner at the start of April, question marks are starting to arise over what the starting 11 could look like.
