Luis Suarez sends four-word message to Darwin Nunez amid Liverpool nightmare
Liverpool icon Luis Suarez shares a close relationship with Darwin Nunez, having played together for the Uruguay national team.
At 38, Suarez is at the end of his career. However, he has shared the pitch with Nunez on 13 occasions and even set him up for a goal once.
Nunez, on the other hand, idolises the Liverpool icon as a player and was happy to vacate the number nine jersey when he was recalled to the national team for the 2024 Copa America in the United States.

Suarez aims comment at Nunez away from Liverpool
Suarez wore the number nine shirt for Uruguay for the entirety of his senior international career before passing it to Nunez who has now reclaimed the number with the veteran out of the fold again.
The former Benfica hitman was in high spirits as he reported for Uruguay’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers earlier this week, sharing a few pictures of him from the national team camp on Instagram.
Suarez was among those who responded to the social media post as he seemingly commented on the underfire Liverpool striker donning the iconic number nine shirt in training.
“What a nice vest”, Suarez wrote on Instagram along with laughing and football emojis (19 March).
Meanwhile, Nunez was quick to respond as he posted a laughing emoji of his own.

Nunez hoping to find form away from Anfield
This comes amidst a nightmarish spell at Anfield for Nunez, who has only found the back of the net for Liverpool thrice in 17 games across all competitions since the turn of the year.
Matches | Starts | Minutes | Goals | Assists | Minutes Per Goal |
40 | 17 | 1882′ | 7 | 7 | 269′ |
His only goal in the last 13 appearances came in the 3-1 victory over bottom-placed Southampton in the Premier League on 8 March.
Furthermore, the 25-year-old was one of the two Reds players to miss a penalty in the shootout defeat against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the UEFA Champions League last-16 tie on 11 March.
All in all, Nunez has endured yet another tough season at the Merseyside-based club, with a transfer exit from Anfield looking likely ahead of the summer.
