Harvey Elliott sends Liverpool message in ‘crazy’ encounter despite ‘shocker’

Harvey Elliott has endured a difficult season under Arne Slot at Liverpool but is hoping to end the campaign on a high.

Much has been said about Elliott’s future at Liverpool as the 21-year-old has started just started just two games across all competitions this season.

He has been restricted to just 121 minutes of Premier League action despite nicking three goals in his limited UEFA Champions League playing time.

While there are concerns if Slot does not favour Elliott at all, the youngster has shown no signs of frustration and is working towards ending the season on a positive note.

Elliott shines for England Under-21s

Elliott emerged as the unlikely hero for Liverpool when he scored a late winner for them in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in France on 5 March with his first touch of the game.

His reward was three more substitute appearances in the Reds’ following games before the international break, and yet he managed to grab an assist.

The former Fulham ace has now gone away on international duty with a mission to impress Slot and he is certainly on the right path.

Elliott was among the goalscorers for the England Under-21s in their rather crazy 5-3 defeat against France in a friendly on Friday, 21 March.

However, he grabbed headlines for the wrong reasons after skying a penalty into the stands in the second half and missing the chance to bring the game level to 4-4.

While the spot-kick was a shocker by regular standards, there is no reason why Elliott should be disappointed with his performance for Lee Critchley’s side.

It is also worth noting that the youngster completed all four of his long balls, including two crosses.
