Dirk Kuyt shares ‘Crazy’ Liverpool admission after what he has seen at Anfield

Liverpool are rampaging towards the Premier League title this season with a huge 12-point gap over Arsenal in second place.

With just nine games to go, the Reds could hand Arne Slot his first trophy with the biggest of them all in his first season at Anfield.

Slot’s men recently suffered disappointment when they crashed out of the Champions League via a penalty shootout defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on 11 March.

Liverpool were then beaten 2-1 by Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley, but Slot is all but certain to lift domestic silverware at the end of the campaign nonetheless.

Dirk Kuyt says Liverpool’s title celebrations will be ‘crazy’

Dirk Kuyt made 285 appearances for the Reds from 2006-2012 and notched 71 goals in the process, but he never won a Premier League title with the Merseyside giants.

However, he is looking forward to the end-of-season celebrations in Liverpool this time around and told The Athletic: “It will be absolutely massive.

“For Arne to win the Premier League in his first season in charge will be something no one will ever forget. It took such a long time for Liverpool to win the championship.

“And then, when it happened last time, it was a bad time for people all over the world, but especially for Liverpool supporters, because they couldn’t enjoy the success properly.

“We’ve all seen the parades around the city after Champions League wins. But, to win the Premier League, I feel, will mean even more to the people.

“It will be crazy both in the stadium and around the city.”

Slot has done an incredible job with Liverpool this season

In the week leading up to the international break, Liverpool saw their hopes of winning three trophies this season reduced to one, courtesy of their Champions League and Carabao Cup final demise.

But Slot had a potentially daunting task on his hands in taking over the managerial reins at Anfield from legendary predecessor Jurgen Klopp, who guided the club to one Premier League title, one Champions League, one FA Cup, and two Carabao Cups during a remarkable nine-year stint.

Slot is well on the way to living up to such lofty standards, though, as he is set to lead Liverpool to their first top-flight title since 2020.

The Dutchman deserves every bit of credit that will come his way once the Reds get their hands on the Premier League trophy come the end of the campaign.

The seamless manner in which he has filled Klopp’s illustrious boots has been a sight to behold, even for Liverpool icons such as Kuyt.
