Exclusive: ‘Alexander-Arnold knows he’s played final Liverpool game’

Trent Alexander-Arnold might have already played his final game for Liverpool Football Club.

Arne Slot’s side are in a strong position to win the Premier League this season. Therefore, the mood around Anfield should be high.

However, things could come crashing down in the summer with arguably Liverpool’s most important three players, Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, all out of contract at the end of the season.

Salah and van Dijk will be looking to finish the season strong and help the Reds secure only their second-ever Premier League title. However, Alexander-Arnold might have already accepted that he has played his final game for Liverpool.

Alexander-Arnold could join Real Madrid

Alexander-Arnold has been widely linked with a move to Real Madrid and even has an official offer on the table from Los Blancos [TNT Sports].

Liverpool have been told to triple what Madrid have offered Alexander-Arnold to keep hold of the 26-year-old.

However, with talks not yet progressing, and just a few months left to run on his deal, Liverpool could be lining up without Alexander-Arnold next season.

The right-back is currently sidelined with an injury suffered in the UEFA Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, with no update yet on when he might return.

However, former Premier League scout Bryan King, who worked for Tottenham, Aston Villa and Everton, explained exclusively to Liverpool News that the injury might not be as serious as it appears, even if Alexander-Arnold thinks so.

“Perhaps in his mind, he knew that was his final game, and that is why he looked so emotional when he came off the pitch against PSG,” King said.

“However, because he walked off the pitch, the injury probably isn’t as bad as it might seem. If it was a serious injury, he wouldn’t have been allowed to walk off the pitch.”

Liverpool could struggle to replace Alexander-Arnold

Alexander-Arnold has been a big part of the Liverpool furniture for the best part of a decade.

Therefore, while his performances haven’t always been up to scratch this season, replacing the player will be difficult, and it will no doubt be an emotional goodbye if he does depart the club.

And if he doesn’t get another chance to line up in a Liverpool shirt, that would be a cruel end to what has been an incredibly successful career with his boyhood club.
