Liverpool contact Isak representatives as ‘Massive’ proposal on the cards
Liverpool have an important summer transfer window ahead as they aim to inject more attacking firepower into their squad and Newcastle United sensation Alexander Isak is a key target.
Arne Slot’s side have endured a tough week as the Reds were eliminated from the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain before losing the Carabao Cup final to Newcastle at Wembley Stadium.
While Mohamed Salah has been outstanding this season, helping Liverpool go 12 points clear at the top of the Premier League, the same cannot be said consistently of the other attackers in the squad, and it now appears that the club are keen on revitalising their front line.
And the Reds are among the clubs keeping a close eye on Isak, who was on target against Liverpool in the Magpies’ 2-1 Wembley win.

Fabrizio Romano reveals Liverpool contact for Alexander Isak
With Isak’s future at Newcastle unclear, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that Liverpool have already made contact over a deal for the Swedish superstar.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano explained that whilst Premier League rivals Arsenal are also in the hunt for Isak, Liverpool will certainly be contenders for his signature.
“Big, big, massive proposals will come to the table for Alexander Isak,” Romano stated.
“Arsenal will be there, Liverpool are also there. For Arsenal, he’s the absolute top target, Sesko is the other name on the list. They are the two main names.
“For Liverpool, he’s one of the names [Isak] they’re considering. They have already made contact with some of the people close to the striker.”
Alexander Isak can transform struggling Liverpool attack
Although Salah is enjoying a truly outstanding season, there is cause for concern over Liverpool’s other attackers, with the Carabao Cup final defeat a wake-up call over the deficiencies in the position.
Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez are all struggling for form, and there are question marks over the future of the underperforming trio.
All three players have failed to contribute on the same level as Salah, as the trio have managed just five Premier League goals between them in 2025.
Attacker | Premier League goals this season |
Alexander Isak | 19 |
Mohamed Salah | 27 |
Darwin Nunez | 5 |
Diogo Jota | 5 |
Luis Diaz | 9 |
Isak meanwhile, has scored 19 goals in 25 league matches, and also netted the crucial strike at Wembley to sink The Reds, and it is clear that he resembles a huge upgrade on Liverpool’s current centre-forward options.
Liverpool’s over-reliance on Salah this season was exposed against PSG and Newcastle, and having an additional world-class attacker alongside him would help Slot continue his strong start to life at Anfield.
Salah’s future is also unclear, and should the Egyptian depart this summer, then signing an attacker of Isak’s calibre would become an even bigger priority for Liverpool.
