Darwin Nunez exit: La Liga giants eye shock £33m move for Liverpool ace

Darwin Nunez is one of several Liverpool stars facing an uncertain future beyond this season with a summer exit on the cards.

Mohamed Salah is among those whose future is unclear beyond the summer as the Egyptian superstar is out of contract at the end of the season, while a number of other attacking players could leave.

Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz have both received criticism for their performances in recent weeks, whilst Nunez has consistently performed below expectations.

Despite Liverpool’s position at the top of the Premier League, there is a feeling that the attacking options available to Arne Slot need refreshing, and several high-profile exits could fund a huge summer rebuild.

Atletico Madrid interested in Darwin Nunez

Nunez has had a difficult season as he has found himself out of favour with Slot at times, and has made just eight Premier League starts under the Dutchman.

GIVEMESPORT have now reported that La Liga giants Atletico Madrid are interested in a move for the Uruguayan, which could total around £33.6million.

It is claimed that Atletico Madrid are keen on a loan deal with an obligation to buy for Nunez between £29m and £33.6m.

No contact has yet been made between the two clubs, but he is an option the La Liga side are considering ahead of the summer window.

Could Liverpool sell Darwin Nunez to Atletico Madrid?

Given that Liverpool paid a club-record £85m to bring Nunez in from Benfica three years ago, letting him leave for what would end up being a huge loss would be a surprising move.

However, if Liverpool continue to leave the striker out in the cold, his value will only decrease, and it may be best to cut their losses this summer if there appears to be no room for him in Slot’s vision.

Atletico may be interested in Nunez as a potential replacement for Antoine Griezmann, who may end up departing Spain.

Given that they invested heavily in Julian Alvarez and Alexander Sorloth as attacking options last summer, it remains to be seen whether they are willing to commit more money to their striker roster with Nunez.
