Virgil van Dijk called out after what he just said about new Liverpool contract
Simon Jordan has hit back at Virgil van Dijk as his contract saga continues to rumble on at Liverpool.
The Reds have endured a crushing week, getting knocked out of the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain, before losing the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle on Sunday.
After the defeat at Wembley, it was more misery for Liverpool supporters as Van Dijk made the headlines after doubling down on his contract situation claiming he knows nothing.

Jordan offers van Dijk reality at Liverpool
Liverpool have found themselves in a difficult position looking ahead to the summer transfer window with van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah all out of contract at the end of the campaign.
Although Arne Slot is set to comfortably win the Premier League title, the misery of the week and with some of the pressure off, the attention is turning to contract situations.
Van Dijk previously said he has heard nothing about his future at Anfield and after the Carabao Cup defeat, he confirmed that this was still the case.
With few distractions left this term, supporters will be eager for their side to make a move and secure some deals for next year rather than losing three of their most crucial squad members.

However, speaking on talkSPORT (17 March, 11:10 am), Jordan admitted he isn’t convinced by the defender’s narrative as he said: “I don’t know what Liverpool’s strategy is.
“Virgil van Dijk isn’t a role model for how to conduct transfer negotiations given he got sanctioned for talking to Liverpool behind Southampton’s back when he left Southampton. So I wouldn’t necessarily take at face value what he might say from experience.
“But the fact of the matter is it would be unfathomable to suggest that nobody knows anything. Not knowing what the outcome is going to be is different. It’s very different to not knowing what the reality of the discussions may entail.
“I would think that Virgil van Dijk is a key component that Liverpool need to retain. I think he’s a very valuable player. But to suggest that there’s nothing or that he’s potentially in the dark about everything, I would say that’s probably a reach and a stretch.”

Liverpool need to get to work
As Jordan says, it seems unlikely that van Dijk has heard nothing about his future at all but instead, he doesn’t yet know what the future holds.
The fact that he is being so blunt when asked about the situation could suggest that he is eager to stay and is trying to urge the club to make a move otherwise he may provided less passionate updates.
It has been a difficult week for the Merseyside club and perhaps has shown that there is still plenty of work to be done under Slot to really solidify a place as a dominant team under the Dutchman.
If the Reds want to do so with ease though, surely this means that they have to tie down these players on new contracts with van Dijk being an integral part of the team, not least due to his role as captain.
What is going on behind closed doors will only be known by those at Anfield but one thing is for sure, Liverpool need to get a move on with their negotiations and tie down some of their key players for next season before it’s too late.
