Liverpool told two transfers they need already after Wembley loss v Newcastle
Liverpool may already be planning for next season after crashing to defeat in the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle on Sunday.
Goals from Dan Burn and Alexander Isak were enough to down the Reds, who followed their exit from the Champions League with Wembley heartbreak.
Federico Chiesa scored Liverpool’s only goal of the 2-1 defeat, but it was too little, too late for the Reds who were unable to successfully defend their League Cup title.
All eyes are now on the Premier League title, with a 12-point gap to Arsenal with only nine games left.

Richards identifies two areas Liverpool must improve following their defeat to Newcastle
The Reds still hold a 12-point lead over second-place Arsenal in the Premier League, but on Sunday they missed a golden opportunity to clinch their first trophy of the season.
Premier League table (top two) | Games played | Points |
1 Liverpool | 29 | 70 |
2 Arsenal | 29 | 58 |
Following Liverpool’s Wembley defeat, Micah Richards identified two positions Arne Slot should look to strengthen during the summer transfer window.
Richards told The Rest is Football podcast [17 March]: “I think they need a nine.
“I think they need a left-back. I think Robertson has been a fantastic servant for Liverpool, I know they’ve been linked with (Milos) Kerkez at Bournemouth.
“He’s got real energy.”

Liverpool supporters will agree with Richards
There is no denying that the Merseyside giants have had a largely brilliant campaign, which is demonstrated by their status as runaway leaders at the top of the Premier League.
The Anfield faithful will be delighted that Slot is set to deliver their first top-flight title since 2020.
But Liverpool have suffered defeats in recent crunch clashes to Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle, missing out on the Champions League and League Cup respectively.
During both of those losses, the Reds were far from their clinical best, so the presence of another striker at the club would be favourable, as alluded to by Richards.
Slot’s men have been overly reliant on the goal contributions of Mohamed Salah this season and failed to score in the second leg against PSG, with the Egyptian king kept largely quiet.
Kerkez would also be a top addition for Liverpool, as his return of two goals and five assists in the Premier League has propelled the Cherries into contention for a European spot.
Big changes are coming at Anfield, and FSG must be ready for that.
