Liverpool news: £100m twist emerges in Julian Alvarez pursuit
Liverpool are keen on signing Atletico Madrid attacker Julian Alvarez in the summer transfer window.
The Argentina international left Manchester City in the summer and has become a regular under Diego Simeone in Spain.
The 25-year-old has 20 goal involvements across LaLiga and the Champions League this season and has played close to 2600 minutes.

Liverpool will have to pay £100million+ to secure Julian Alvarez transfer
Anfield Index reported on 14 March that the Reds were keen on signing Alvarez before he left City last summer.
However, they failed to agree a deal to sign him and he ended up moving to Madrid.
Their interest remains but they will now have to pay a lot more than what Atletico did to secure his services less than a year ago.
The Madrid outfit paid £65million with a further £17million in add-ons but Liverpool will now have to shell out an excess of £100million.

Arne Slot can get the best out of Julian Alvarez
Alvarez would be a class signing for Liverpool due to his proven versatility, goal-scoring prowess, and ability to thrive under pressure – attributes that align perfectly with the Reds’ dynamic, high-pressing style and Arne Slot can get the best out of him.
At 25, the Argentine striker has already amassed an enviable trophy cabinet, including a Premier League title, Champions League and World Cup, showcasing his pedigree at the elite level.
His time at Manchester City and current stint at Atletico Madrid highlight his adaptability, capable of playing as a central forward, second striker, or on the wings, offering tactical flexibility to Slot’s system.

Alvarez has already demonstrated his clinical finishing and playmaking ability, while his work rate off the ball complements Liverpool’s relentless pressing game.
With Mohamed Salah’s contract nearing its end and Darwin Nunez’s inconsistency in front of goal, Alvarez represents a long-term solution to bolster the attack.
His market value reflects his status as a world-class talent, yet his hunger to lead a frontline – something he rarely did behind Erling Haaland – could see him flourish at Anfield.
For a club aiming to reclaim Premier League glory again next season, Alvarez’s blend of youth, experience and winning mentality makes him an ideal fit.
