Luis Diaz flops in 4/10 as Alisson gets MOTM – Liverpool ratings v PSG
Liverpool fell to a 4-1 penalty shootout defeat against PSG to kill off their Champions League dream at Anfield on Tuesday night.
The Reds tried to stand their ground against Luis Enrique’s men but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough.
A strike from Ousmane Dembele opened up the scoring and took the game to extra time with Liverpool failing to net one of their own.
Arne Slot’s men then had their chance to advance into the quarter-finals but thanks to missed penalties from Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones, their European dreams were shattered.
Here, Liverpool News rates the players out of 10.

Liverpool player ratings v PSG
Alisson – 8
Kept Liverpool in the game on more than one occasion, was massively tested by Luis Enrique’s men and couldn’t have done much more for PSG’s opener.
Trent Alexander-Arnold – 7 (Off for Quansah, 73′)
Dealt with Kvicha Kvarataskhelia throughout the game and proved his worth in attack with a couple of precise balls into the box.
Virgil van Dijk – 6
Underwhelming game for the towering Dutchman, he was a threat at set-pieces but could have been better in defence.
Ibrahima Konate – 6 (Off for Endo, 110′)
Should have done better for PSG’s opener after his mistimed block, wasn’t his best performance in a Liverpool shirt.
Andy Robertson – 5
Looked uncomfortable in the first half of the game and highlighted Liverpool’s need for a new left-back in the summer transfer window. However, his performance did vastly improve in the second half.
Ryan Gravenberch – 6
Another Liverpool player who had a quiet game, was solid in defence but should have got more involved in the attack than he did.
Alexis Mac Allister – 6 (Off for Jones, 90′)
Proved Slot’s decision of starting him over Curtis Jones for the tie right, the midfielder put in plenty of solid balls and would have likely had a couple of assists in any other game.

Dominik Szoboszlai stars for Liverpool once again
Dominik Szoboszlai – 7 (Off for Elliott, 105′)
One of Liverpool’s key players in attack once again, superb when pressing the opposition but he should have buried one or two of the chances he was handed.
Mohamed Salah – 7
Salah was in fine form once again, had most of Liverpool’s chances and could have had a hat trick in the first 15 minutes, he also left Nuno Mendes in his dust more than once.
Diogo Jota – 4 (Off for Nunez, 73′)
More or less absent from the tie, seems to be a fraction of his former self and he didn’t always make the right choice when in possession
Statistic | Number of unsuccessful attempts |
Dribbles | 3 |
Crosses | 1 |
Ground duels | 1 out of 9 won |
Luis Diaz – 4 (Off for Gakpo, 102′)
His constant running caused PSG plenty of problems but his final third play let him down once again, was kept out of the clash by Achraf Hakimi throughout.
Substitutes
Jarell Quansah – 7 (On for Alexander-Arnold, 73′)
Had some of the Reds’ best chances of the second half and almost got them ahead with a diving header in the 79th minute.
Darwin Nunez – 6 (On for Jota, 73′)
Was brought on to try and add some additional energy to Liverpool’s attack but he made a few misplaced passes and also missed his penalty in the shoot-out, resulting in Liverpool getting knocked out.
Curtis Jones (On for Mac Allister, 90′) – 6
Was left on the bench by Slot to start and was brought on to create some more energy on the pitch but hardly got involved, half as good as he was against Southampton last time out and like Nunez, missed his penalty.
Cody Gakpo (On for Diaz, 102′) – 5
Came on to replace the fatigued Diaz, nice to see him back on the pitch after a couple of games out but didn’t have a say in the game.
Harvey Elliott (On for Szoboszlai, 105′) – N/A
Wataru Endo (On for Konate, 110′) – N/A
