Antonee Robinson responds as family quiz him on Liverpool transfer

Antonee Robinson has proven himself as one of the best left-backs in the Premier League this term at Fulham, and has caught the attention of Liverpool.

The fact that the Reds have identified Robinson as a potential transfer target should come as no surprise, given the fact he has delivered 10 assists in the top-flight this season.

Fulham currently sit 10th in the Premier League table, but are just five points behind fifth place Manchester City despite Saturday’s defeat to fellow Europe-chasers Brighton.

It comes as Liverpool potentially look to move on from Andrew Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas

Robinson reveals stance on Liverpool interest

Before his Fulham days, Robinson came through the Everton youth academy, but it is now the Toffees’ Merseyside rivals Liverpool who are interested in his services.

The full-back never made a senior appearance for Everton, and joined Fulham from Wigan during the summer of 2020.

He has subsequently thrived at Craven Cottage, which has attracted attention from Arne Slot’s Premier League leaders.

Robinson told ESPN: “Transfer rumours and stuff like that, I try not to look at.

“Especially the Liverpool one, all my friends and family are from Liverpool, so it’s more of them messaging me than me seeing newspaper stuff.

“And I have to say, look, it’s just, just a story in the paper and anyone who’s doing well is going to get linked to a team.”

Robinson did not totally rule out the prospect of a move to Anfield as he said: “Eventually I want to perform at the highest level that I can.

“Whether that’s playing Champions League, playing European competitions with Fulham, however I get there, I want to make sure I get there.”

Robinson signing could be good for Slot and Liverpool

Robinson has revealed that he has intentions of playing his trade in the Champions League, which is clearly an opportunity which Liverpool would be able to hand him sooner than Fulham.

The Reds are on their way to lifting their first Premier League title since 2020, as they are 15 points clear of their closest challengers Arsenal.

Furthermore, Slot’s men will fancy their chances of winning the Champions League this season, and could be set to reach the quarter-finals following their 1-0 win over PSG in the first leg of their Round of 16 tie, with the second leg on Tuesday.

Slot has done an incredible job with the Liverpool squad he has inherited from Jurgen Klopp, with the exception of summer signing Federico Chiesa who has seldom featured.

But the upcoming summer transfer window presents the Dutchman with an opportunity to build his own Liverpool squad, and Robinson’s exploits show that he could be a shrewd addition.

To facilitate a move for the USA international, though, the Reds may need to sanction the exit of fellow left-back Tsimikas amid the continued brilliance of Robertson.

Liverpool could be set for a big summer of change, as legendary trio Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah are all yet to put pen to paper on a new contract.

The potential addition of Robinson could be a success during the next transfer window, on the other hand, with a new era coming at Anfield.
