Liverpool ‘to agree bumper new Salah contract’ after £60m-a-year update

Mohamed Salah’s future has been hanging over the heads of everyone involved with Liverpool since the start of the season.

There’s no denying that Salah is in some of the form of his life at the moment, often carrying the Reds to victory single-handedly.

Arne Slot has relied upon the Egypt international regularly this term and he looks set to earn his second Premier League title at Anfield since his arrival after results at the weekend.

However, the fact his contract, as well as Virgil van Dijk’s and Trent Alexander-Arnold’s, are yet to be extended is a massive cause for concern.

But, after a new £60million-per-year update that has emerged, the future of the Egyptian King may have already been sealed.

Liverpool’s deal with Adidas to jump-start negotiations with Salah

Since the 2024/25 season kicked off, there have been rumours about Liverpool changing their kit suppliers from Nike to Adidas.

An announcement on the Reds’ official website on Monday (10 March) confirmed that deal is now in place, with Liverpool set to recieve upwards of £60m-per-year as a result.

The Reds have been sponsored by Nike for the last five years but now must have felt like the best time for them to try something new and move on.

Seen as though this new deal with Adidas is set to double the amount of money in Liverpool’s pockets, it could end up being a catalyst towards starting negotiations with Salah.

Which is something that needs to be rectified as soon as possible.

Liverpool must keep Salah at all costs

Without Salah among their ranks this season, Liverpool would have been far worse off and wouldn’t be in as much of an advantageous position as they currently are.

It’s been reported that the Egypt international earns around £18.2m-per-year, which equates to around £350,000-per-week.

This is already an extortionate amount of money for the Anfield outfit to be forking out, but if they want to compete with the best teams in the world, these are the sort of wages they’ll have to hand out.

It would be nigh-on impossible to bring in a player who does everything that Salah does, which is why the Reds need to sign him on a bumper new deal to ensure their progression remains constant.

Only time will tell what the future holds, but at the moment, things finally seem to be going Liverpool’s way.
