Diaz and Gravenberch react to Robertson Instagram message after Liverpool win
Liverpool duo Luis Diaz and Ryan Gravenberch were among those to respond to a rallying call issued by fellow Reds star Andy Robertson via Instagram following their 3-1 win over Southampton.
Robertson was not named in Arne Slot’s starting 11 on Saturday 8 March, but was brought on to replace Konstantinos Tsimikas at half-time, as the Reds surprisingly went in to the break a goal down.
Will Smallbone scored to put Southampton 1-0 up during first-half additional time, prompting Liverpool boss Slot to make three half-time changes.
Tsimikas made way for fellow left-back Robertson, while Curtis Jones and Dominik Szoboszlai were replaced by Alexis Mac Allister and Harvey Elliott respectively.

Liverpool stars Gravenberch and Diaz respond to Robertson encouragement
The Reds did not produce one of their better performances at Anfield on Saturday 8 March, hence why they fell behind to a Southampton side who are all but certain to face immediate relegation back to the Championship.
Premier League top four (09/03/2025) | Games played | Goal difference | Points |
1 Liverpool | 29 | 42 | 70 |
2 Arsenal | 27 | 28 | 54 |
3 Nottingham Forest | 28 | 12 | 51 |
4 Manchester City | 28 | 15 | 47 |
However, just nine minutes into the second-half, Liverpool edged themselves in front thanks to a Darwin Nunez goal and Mohamed Salah’s penalty.
Salah bagged himself a brace, and secured all three points for Slot’s men on 88 minutes, when he scored his second penalty of the afternoon to make it 3-1.
Following his side’s victory, Robertson wrote on Instagram: “Nine to go!!”
Diaz and Gravenberch both commented on the 30-year-old’s post with emojis, demonstrating that they had taken Robertson’s message on board.
Liverpool could be in for a historic season
Following their victory over Southampton, the Reds are now 16 points clear at the top of the Premier League, with nine games remaining as alluded to by Robertson.
With such a heavy lead over second place Arsenal, who travel to Manchester United on Sunday 9 March, Liverpool are set to lift their first Premier League title since 2020.
However, as outlined by Robertson’s post, Slot’s side still have nine fixtures to fulfill, so now is not the time for the Reds to allow complacency to slip into their game.
Meanwhile, the Anfield side are on the brink of reaching the Champions League final, thanks to their 1-0 win at PSG in the first leg of their Round of 16 tie last week.
The Reds are now just one home win, or draw, against the Ligue 1 leaders away from reaching the last eight of the Champions League.
Then, just five days on from their clash with PSG, Liverpool face Newcastle at Wembley in the League Cup final on Sunday 16 March.
There is every chance that Slot and co will get their hands on three trophies this term, if they are able to maintain their current momentum.
