Nunez stars as 4/10 teammate ‘missing’ – Liverpool player ratings v Southampton

Liverpool beat Southampton 3-1 at Anfield on Saturday to extend their lead in the Premier League title race.

The Reds were too strong for the bottom-dwellers (8 March) and now find themselves with a 16-point lead at the summit with Arsenal in action on Sunday.

A strike from Darwin Nunez and two Mohamed Salah penalties cancelled out Will Smallbone’s surprising first-half opener.

Here, Liverpool News rates the players out of 10.

Alisson – 6

Nothing he could do for the goal, made multiple saves when called upon and was brilliant with the ball at his feet.

Trent Alexander-Arnold – 7 (off for Quansah, 90)

Excellent display from Alexander-Arnold, he was a constant threat going forward and dealt with anything that was thrown at him when defending.

Ibrahima Konate – 6

Impressed with the ball at his feet and typically solid when the Anfield outfit were without the ball, a good performance.

Virgil van Dijk – 6

The Liverpool skipper was immense in build-up play and had a relatively easy game when he was forced to intervene defensively.

Kostas Tsimikas – 5 (off for Robertson, 45)

Was hauled off at the interval after a display that saw him booked in the 31st minute despite a good performance on both sides of the ball.

Ryan Gravenberch – 7 (off for Endo, 81)

Another impressive display from Gravenberch after questions over starting him, as he drove the Reds forward and was a constant presence when Slot’s side were without the ball.

Curtis Jones – 6 (off for Mac Allister, 45)

The Englishman was another to be replaced at the break despite creating multiple opportunities and being solid defensively.

Szoboszlai struggles despite Liverpool win

Dominik Szoboszlai – 4 (off for Elliott, 45)

The brilliant Szoboszlai that Reds supporters are used to seeing lately went missing and was dragged off at half-time after struggling to influence the contest as he created just one chance and made zero interceptions. [Fotmob]
