Exclusive: Richard Hughes has direct line to agent of next Liverpool signing
Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes has a prior relationship with Bournemouth which could come in great use this summer.
The Reds have been in need of a new left back at Anfield this season as their current options begin to be left behind.
Andy Robertson has slowly seen his performance level decrease in recent years as injuries begin to take a hold and impact his typically energetic style of play.
This could see Milos Kerkez be targeted after an excellent campaign on the south coast, which could see the L4 club use existing links to make a deal happen.

Hughes to make Kerkez deal happen at Liverpool
It is fair to say that the Hungary international has caught the eye in the Premier League since signing from AZ Alkmaar in the summer of 2023.
The 21-year-old has played an excellent role under Andoni Iraola and could prove to be the ideal left-back option at Anfield in the upcoming window.
As a replacement for Robertson or Kostas Tsimikas, there won’t be many better young defender talents available.
Former Leicester City and Brentford manager Martin Allen believes this would be an excellent move for the Reds.
Speaking exclusively to Liverpool News, Allen said: “He’s a good player, he is a good player, I’ve seen him a fair few times.
“He’s good going forward, good on the ball and tenacious in the tackle. I’m sure he would suit Liverpool. Robertson might only have one season left at the top level before he moves on.
“With forward planning, they will be looking to bring Kerkez in.“
The ex-West Ham midfielder also suggested that the existing link between Hughes and Bournemouth could be utilised to push a deal over the line.
“The sporting director role at Liverpool has been taken up by Richard Hughes who did the same job at Bournemouth, Allen told Liverpool News.
“He brought Kerkez in at Bournemouth and now he’s in at Liverpool, there could be a connection there with his agent.“

Kerkez could be perfect signing at Liverpool
If Arne Slot has his eyes set on bringing in a left back at the end of the season, there won’t be many better out there than the Hungarian.
Kerkez could be available for £40million in the summer but that could ultimately be impacted by the Cherries’ final Premier League position.
Position | Team | Games Played | Goal difference | Points |
5. | Chelsea | 27 | +16 | 46 |
6. | Newcastle United | 27 | +8 | 44 |
7. | Bournemouth | 27 | +13 | 43 |
8. | Brighton | 27 | +5 | 43 |
9. | Fulham | 27 | +4 | 42 |
It has to be said that if Liverpool do win the title this season, they will have plenty of transfer pull which could make for an easier deal and negotiation with the 21-year-old.
Talks may only be likely to become easier if Hughes has an existing relationship with the former AZ Alkmaar youngster and his agent.
Supporters will be keen to see the Bournemouth man in red ahead of next season and their dreams may have now taken a step closer to reality.
