Liverpool announce Steven Gerrard return to Anfield in official statement
Liverpool have confirmed that legendary Reds midfielder and former England international Steven Gerrard will be returning to Anfield later this month.
During an illustrious playing career, Gerrard made over 700 Liverpool appearances, notching a whopping return of 186 goals and 155 assists.
After making his debut back in 1998, the Liverpudlian helped the Anfield outfit win one Champions League, one Europa League, two FA Cups and three League Cups.
Such remarkable exploits at Liverpool made Gerrard a household name up and down the country, while he boasts a name which will never be forgotten, particularly in Merseyside.
Following an incredible 17-year stint with Liverpool, the ex-England international joined MLS outfit LA Galaxy in 2015, where he spent one season before hanging up his boots.

Gerrard will be returning to Anfield on 22 March
After announcing the end of his playing days, Gerrard took up management, initially beginning his days in the dugout with Liverpool’s Under-18 side.
His first role in senior football management arrived in 2018, when he was appointed by Scottish Premiership giants Rangers.
Gerrard is fondly remembered by everyone associated with the Ibrox club, because he steered them to the 2021 league title, their first such triumph following a decade in the shadows of bitter rivals Celtic.

The former midfield maestro will be pulling the strings at Anfield once more on 22 March, when a Liverpool legends team take on a Chelsea legends side in the LFC Foundation’s annual charity match.
Gerrard will be representing the Reds legends alongside the likes of former England teammate Peter Crouch as well as Sami Hyypia, Martin Skrtel and Dirk Kuyt.
Meanwhile, the Chelsea legends side will be managed by Roberto Di Matteo and will feature Gary Cahill, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Frank Sinclair.

Gerrard will get a hero’s welcome at Anfield
Importantly, the Reds’ charity game with Chelsea will be raising money for the LFC Foundation’s health programmes which help tackle health inequalities within the Liverpool City Region.
Saturday 22 March will mark a joyous occasion at Anfield, when Liverpool supporters will be able to cheer on their side’s former heroes as they take on familiar foe Chelsea.
But perhaps no one gracing the pitch in Merseyside later this month will receive a more rousing reception than that of Gerrard, who played a pivotal role in some of the most notable parts of the club’s history.
The 2005 Champions League final provided one of the finest narratives football has ever produced, as Liverpool trailed AC Milan 3-0 at half-time, but came back to draw 3-3, and clinch the trophy via a penalty shootout win.
Such a historic fightback would not have been possible without the contributions of Gerrard, whose goal put the Reds on the scoresheet before further strikes from Vladimir Smicer and Xabi Alonso levelled proceedings just after the hour mark in Istanbul.
