Joe Gomez transfer: Liverpool exit on cards with replacement already available
Joe Gomez could soon end his stint at Liverpool, as a replacement is already being eyed ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
The English defender has struggled with fitness issues at the Reds since his emergence in the first team a few years back.
Gomez has shown promise at Anfiel on occasion, but injuries have severely hampered his career, making him an unreliable option in the backline.
Arne Slot is on course to win the Premier League, and while the 27-year-old centre-back has featured during the current campaign, he has mostly been absent from the starting lineup.

Liverpool could sanction Joe Gomez transfer
Gomez’s future at the Merseyside outfit remains in doubt ahead of next summer, according to Rousing The Kop.
The news outlet reports (27 February) that the defender’s prospects at the Reds are uncertain after another injury-hit season.
It has been claimed that while the 27-year-old will not be forced out of Slot’s team, there is a chance he could be sold in the coming months.
Bournemouth centre-back Dean Huijsen is one of the options being assessed by Liverpool, and his agents have made it clear that he will be available.

Slot needs defenders after Gomez transfer
Slot will need more defenders at Anfield as there’s an evident lack of squad depth, which hasn’t troubled the Dutch manager this season.
The former Feyenoord boss has been lucky that Virgil van Dijk hasn’t picked up any significant knocks this season, with the captain starting in every Premier League fixture.
Apart from a brief spell on the sidelines, Ibrahima Konate has also mostly been available at the Reds.
Jarell Quansah hasn’t been relied upon as much as last season, but the youngster has been decent when called upon.
First-team centre-backs | Age |
Van Dijk | 33 |
Konate | 27 |
Gomez | 25 |
Quansah | 22 |
Van Dijk’s current contract at Anfield expires at the end of the season, and the priority at the Merseyside outfit should be the 33-year-old’s renewal.
Slot has found a way to get the best out of his squad without significant expenditure in the previous two transfer windows.
While the Dutch manager deserves immense praise for what he has done, Michael Edwards and Fenway Sports Group (FSG) must invest in the squad to maintain success.
Regardless of whether Gomez leaves, the Merseysiders must pursue Huijsen to add much-needed strength to their defence next summer.
