Anthony Gordon sends two-word message to Jones after Liverpool win v Newcastle
Curtis Jones received a two-word message from Liverpool-linked Anthony Gordon after the Reds beat Newcastle 2-0 in their Premier League clash on Wednesday.
Liverpool managed to triumph over Eddie Howe’s men in a fairly dominant performance that saw them go 13 points clear of second-placed Arsenal at the top of the Premier League.
Arne Slot’s team have been one of the most dominant forces across world football this season and also finished top of the Champions League league stage.
Players such as Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai have often received the most plaudits but it was Jones who Gordon chose to send a message to.

Gordon reaches out to Jones despite Liverpool win
Before he made the switch to Everton’s academy as a youngster, Gordon was part of Liverpool’s set-up and had Jones as one of his teammates.
In the end, it didn’t quite work out for the winger at Anfield but that doesn’t mean the bond between Jones and Gordon has been broken.
In fact, the Reds may have even had some regret about letting the attacker go as, over the summer, Liverpool were consistently linked with a move for Gordon before he signed an extension to his current deal.
Jones took to Instagram in a post that had a picture of the two of them together on the pitch without a caption.
This sparked a reply from Gordon who wrote: “My brother” with a red heart emoji at the end.
Slot will deliver Liverpool a Premier League title
Before Slot was brought in as the manager to replace Jurgen Klopp, there wasn’t all that much expectation going into the 2024/25 season.
Most fans and pundits had already written the Reds off with hardly any believing that they’d even have the slightest chance at winning the Premier League title.
But, to the surprise of many, despite the quality among their ranks, the Reds have arguably been the best team in the Premier League this term.
Team | Position | Points |
Liverpool | 1st | 67 |
Arsenal | 2nd | 54 |
Nottingham Forest | 3rd | 48 |
Manchester City | 4th | 47 |
Granted, a lot of their fortune is down to the incredible form of Salah but it’s certainly been a team effort to carry on their dominance across the term.
Only time will tell what the future has in store but if the 2024/25 campaign ends without a title being added to Liverpool’s trophy cabinet, it’ll be a massive shock.
Especially with the recent performances that second-placed Arsenal have put in against the likes of West Ham United and Aston Villa over the last few weeks.
