Liverpool make official announcement ahead of Newcastle United match

Liverpool have made an official announcement ahead of facing Newcastle United in the Premier League on Wednesday evening.

The Reds welcome Newcastle to Anfield in a Premier League clash billed as a dress rehearsal for the EFL Cup Final next month, when they’ll also face the Magpies at Wembley Stadium on 16 March.

Wednesday’s meeting, however, gives Arne Slot’s side the chance to move a whopping 14 points clear at the summit of the Premier League table, with second-placed Arsenal travelling to Nottingham Forest.

Newcastle don’t have such security in their push towards the top of the table, and head to Merseyside knowing that a win over the runaway leaders will take them into the Champions League places.

Liverpool mark ‘special milestone’ after five-year partnership

Liverpool are not only leading the way (by some distance) in the Premier League table ahead of hosting Newcastle on Wednesday, but they’ve also marked a significant milestone for the club’s community.

Posting on their official website on 26 February, the Reds have marked five years since launching ‘Red Together’, their campaign set up in commitment to “championing equality, diversity and inclusion”.

The Reds detailed their ongoing support for Liverpool Pride, Black History Month, Rainbow Laces, International Day of Persons with Disabilities, World Mental Health Month and LGBT+ History Month, all of which have included appearances by and messages of support from their playing squad.

Liverpool give back to local community amid official announcement

Although Liverpool are clearly setting the standard in both England and Europe on the pitch so far this season, they’re also helping to lead the way in terms of their community involvement around the city.

Liverpool is one of the UK’s most diverse metropolitan areas both demographically and socio-economically, and it’s a credit to the city’s local authorities that so many events play such a key role.

Liverpool take on Newcastle in the Premier League on Wednesday

The support of the Anfield club itself will also provide a huge boost to the exposure and popularity of these diversity-celebrating events, with Liverpool having a fanbase which spans all corners of the globe.

Slot’s side taking on Newcastle will be the focus of all involved at the club this Wednesday, but the sheer level of support shown towards the Red Together campaign will continue to be a long-term goal.
