Liverpool may have found new Gerrard after what ‘sensational’ ace did v Man City
Liverpool have been the most in-form team in the Premier League this season.
The Reds have dominated almost every game they’ve played in this term and it feels like nothing is going to get in their way of adding another Premier League title to their trophy cabinet.
At the moment, Arne Slot’s men are 11 points clear at the top of the table with second-placed Arsenal losing their last game against West Ham United 1-0.
However, if it wasn’t for the performances of some players among the Anfield outfit’s ranks, there’s not a chance that Slot’s men would be as high in the table as they are.
Both Dominik Szoboszlai and Mohamed Salah and been pivotal in many of Liverpool’s wins this term with the duo often linking up to get the Merseyside outfit ahead.
The former of the two has even earned comparisons to Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard and after the showing he put on against Manchester City last time out, it’s clear to see why.

Dominik Szoboszlai could be new Steven Gerrard for Liverpool
The Hungary captain was brought in by Jurgen Klopp last season and while he wasn’t among the Reds’ best players last term, he still managed to get himself 12 goal contributions.
This season, however, it’s like something has just clicked because, after just 35 games, he’s already at the same amount of goal contributions as he was by the end of last season.
Szoboszlai has become pivotal to the way that Liverpool play which was shown in their 2-0 win over Man City at the weekend with Daily Mail journalist Lewis Steele hailing the midfielder’s performance as “sensational”.
“Dominik Szoboszlai is lying on the turf at full time. Not because he’s injured because he’s just put absolutely everything into that performance,” he wrote via his personal X account (23 February).
“Simply sensational from the Hungary captain. Never stops running and silky in possession, rewarded with his goal.”

Szoboszlai could be key to Liverpool winning the Premier League title
Even though the likes of Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez haven’t quite managed to live up to expectations this season, Szoboszlai has more than made up for their lack of form.
Slot has chosen to play the Hungary international in a more advanced role in the centre of the park which has allowed him to make many more forward runs and has also made him to become the main link between the midfield and the attack.
Team | Position | Points |
Liverpool | 1st | 64 |
Arsenal | 2nd | 53 |
Nottingham Forest | 3rd | 47 |
Manchester City | 4th | 44 |
This new role, coupled with the form that Salah currently finds himself in is what has helped carry Liverpool to the position they find themselves in the top flight at the moment.
Without the pair of them among Liverpool’s squad this season, it’s unlikely that the Merseyside outfit would have been as dominant as they are today, which in itself is a massive compliment.
