Robbie Savage shares Liverpool v Man City prediction amid ‘vulnerable’ verdict
Robbie Savage has given his verdict on how the Premier League clash between Liverpool and Manchester City is going to go down.
The Reds drew their last Premier League clash against Aston Villa 2-2 in a game where they’d have likely wanted to extend their gap at the top of the table by more than one point.
Unai Emery’s men were a tough battle for Mohamed Salah and co. with the Egyptian once again leading his team towards earning a valuable point.
Going into the game against the Citizens, Liverpool fans are likely feeling fairly optimistic about their chances despite Pep Guardiola’s men winning three of their last five Premier League games.
Over the last few years, the two rivals have often been in a two-horse race to try and win the Premier League title but this season, things have been somewhat different.
City are down in fourth, injury-riddled and are 17 points behind Liverpool in the Premier League which is something that Savage thinks could play in the Reds’ favour.

Robbie Savage thinks Liverpool will beat Manchester City
As has been the case with most top-flight clubs this term, a lot of City’s first-team players have been ruled out due to injury.
Rodri is by far and away the biggest miss from the squad but injuries to players such as Ruben Dias and Erling Haaland have hindered their backline even more.
And, Speaking on the Planet Sport Bet Podcast (23 February), Savage admitted that at the moment, City’s defence looks “vulnerable”.
“I think it’s important that Liverpool get soemthing here and I think they will,” Savage said.
“Manchester City defensively are vulnerable right now.
“I think Liverpool’s attacking options with their pace on the counter attack and the way they play, I think they’ll have too much for Manchester City.
“I’m going to go with Salah to get a goal, Jota if he starts to get a goal and I’m going to go with Marmoush.
“2-1 Liverpool win.”

Mohamed Salah needs to be on top form at The Ethiad
With the form that Salah currently finds himself in, it’s hard to think of a player who’s better than him in world football.
The Egyptian King has been the Reds’ star man for the last few seasons and the 2024/25 campaign is no different.
Games | Goals | Assists |
37 | 29 | 20 |
He’s on course to break multiple Premier League records already and if he’s on top form against the Cityzens, it’s hard to see an outcome where the Reds won’t win.
However, as always in football, things can turn on their heads in an instant and you can never count a team led by Guardiola out, no matter what sort of form or state they’re in.
So, as long as Salah is on top of his game, everything should go swimmingly for Arne Slot and his men.
