Michael Owen makes Liverpool Premier League title prediction after Arsenal loss

Michael Owen has made a prediction regarding Liverpool in the Premier League after what happened at Arsenal.

The Gunners lost 1-0 to West Ham United at home on Saturday (22 February), giving the Reds an opportunity to extend their lead.

Liverpool face Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday (23 February), and a win could take them 11 points clear of Mikel Arteta’s team.

The Anfield faithful are confident of winning the Premier League, and Owen has given his verdict on the Reds’ title charge.

Liverpool to win Premier League after Arsenal failure

Owen believes the Merseyside outfit are destined to lift the trophy at the end of the season if Arsenal lose any more games.

The former Reds striker feels Arne Slot’s team still aren’t guaranteed to win the English top flight if the Gunners can put on a winning run.

But Owen thinks it’s going to be difficult for the North London club to go unbeaten, considering their lack of firepower.

Speaking on Premier League Productions (22 February), the 45-year-old said: “Now Liverpool need 29 points out of 26, which is not a banker still, it’s not a banker. But that’s assuming Arsenal go unbeaten, and that’s the hard thing because they’re struggling for firepower. But they’ve got to aim for that because anything less and you’d think Liverpool would do it.”

Slot to bring Premier League title back to Anfield

Slot will lift the league title at Liverpool in his debut season after bringing out the best of the squad at his disposal, and it would be surprising if he doesn’t.

The Premier League should come back to Anfield unless something drastic happens over the course of the coming months.

Arsenal are the only genuine contenders for the title, and it doesn’t seem realistic for them to win every game until the end of the season.

The Reds are well-placed to be crowned champions, and even a few minor slip-ups won’t affect them, considering the point gap with the Gunners.

While the Merseyside outfit have a big opportunity in Manchester, going up against Pep Guardiola’s team will be challenging.

Man City haven’t been anywhere near their best in the current campaign, but they can’t be taken lightly.

The Cityzens were eliminated from the Champions League after losing to Real Madrid in their previous fixture, and they will be looking to turn things around against the Reds.

As things stand, the Anfield faithful can be rest assured that Arsenal won’t pose a threat to them in the Premier League.
