Jamie Carragher wowed by ‘out of this world’ moment in Liverpool win v Man City

Liverpool earned a 2-0 Premier League victory over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday and left Jamie Carragher mindblown with one particular moment.

Arne Slot’s side moved another step closer to winning the Premier League as first-half goals from Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai saw Liverpool leave Manchester with all three points.

Salah and Szoboszlai were the star performers for the visitors as they assisted each other for their respective goals, while Curtis Jones had a goal disallowed for offside in the second half.

While both the goals were not spectacular by any means, there was enough for Carragher to be blown away by as he analysed the Reds’ performance in the Sky Sports studio at half-time.

Carragher was particularly impressed by the manner in which Liverpool took the lead through Salah as Alexis Mac Allister rolled the ball towards Szoboszlai from a corner and the Hungarian in turn flicked it to the Egyptian for a first-time finish.

The pundit, who also shed light on Andy Robertson‘s role in the goal, described Szoboszlai’s touch as “out of this world” and the pass as “fantastic”.

“Great ball in, but Szoboszlai’s touch is absolutely out of this world”, Carragher said on Sky Sports Main Event (23 February, 5:32 pm).

“Just watch Andy Robertson as well in that front space, blocks the front man, I think it’s Phil Foden, allows Szoboszlai to get in front.

“But, that pass is absolutely fantastic, the weight on it is perfect.”

Liverpool nearing Premier League glory

The win against Manchester City saw Liverpool move 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League table, thanks to West Ham beating Arsenal 1-0 on Saturday, 22 February.

Mikel Arteta’s side have a game in hand and can reduce the gap to eight points again if they win that fixture, but face a herculean task to catch up with Slot and Co between now and the end of the season.

The Gunners have 12 games left to play, while the Merseyside-based club have 11.

Meanwhile, Szoboszlai will be delighted to have grabbed a goal and assist at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

The Hungary international had three goals and assists each in the Premier League prior to the trip to Manchester.

Some pundits and fans have been demanding more goal contributions from him in recent weeks and he did exactly that against City.
