Daniel Sturridge shares Liverpool title admission as Arsenal ‘damage’ verdict shared
Daniel Sturridge has weighed in on whether the Premier League game between Liverpool and Manchester City on Saturday is a must-win clash.
Liverpool have had a couple of blips recently having drawn 2-2 against Aston Villa during their last Premier League clash earlier in the week and being knocked out of the FA Cup by Plymouth.
By and large, though, Liverpool are in an extremely strong position and have not been beaten in the Premier League since September.
Title rivals Arsenal, are having less luck, as they were held to a 1-0 defeat in their most recent Premier League game against West Ham and let the title slip further out of their grasp.
This has left Liverpool with an eight-point gap to second place and puts them further into the driver’s seat to acquire another Premier League title.
The next game for Arne Slot’s men comes against Manchester City, who, while they haven’t been at their best this term, could still deliver a hefty blow to the Reds’ title hopes.
This is why Sturridge believes that Liverpool need to do all they can to leave Manchester with three points.

Sturridge believes Liverpool need to put the ‘nail in the coffin’
Plenty of the Merseyside outfit’s players have been on top form this term with some such as Mohamed Salah standing out more than others.
However, there have also been moments when some of their talent has been questioned for the effort they’ve put in which is why Sturridge, while live on Sky Sports (23 February) doesn’t think the Reds can sit back and relax just yet.
“Every game is a final now as we know, they’ve got to make sure that as a squad they stick to the task and don’t get complacent,” he said.
“They can’t just think ‘oh we’ll limber out now, Arsenal can’t keep pace’ they’ve got to make sure that they put the nail in the coffin because if they don’t, Arsenal have some players who can cause some damage.”

Arsenal could still throw a bump in the road for Liverpool
While their performance against the Hammers didn’t quite cut it last time out, that doesn’t mean they don’t have an abundance of talent among their ranks that can cause serious damage.
The main problem with Arteta’s team is that they don’t have a natural number nine to lead their line and put the many chances they create into the back of the net.
Players such as Mikel Merino have been thrown up top and while that may have worked against Leicester, their style will soon get figured out and they’ll be put back to square one.
The Reds need to beat Man City on Sunday in order to prove they’re in the race for the long haul.
A win against the Cityzens would also no doubt fill the entire squad with hope for the rest of the season, which at the end of the day, is what carries through most teams when gunning for things such as the title.
