Liverpool told to sell ‘tragic’ Darwin Nunez after what happened v Aston Villa

Darwin Nunez is a polarising figure among the Liverpool fanbase and is under fire again after his latest display.

The Uruguayan striker has struggled to force his way into Arne Slot’s plans on a regular basis this season.

Since scoring two late goals to secure victory at Brentford, he has failed to find the net in the last eight Premier League matches.

Some supporters have had enough of his profligacy in front of goal after Liverpool drew 2-2 with Aston Villa.

Dominic Szoboszlai squared the ball to the former Benfica attacker in the 69th minute and Nunez would have seen the headlines.

The chance to become the match-winner proved too much for the beleaguered Uruguayan as he skied the ball over the crossbar when it seemed harder to miss.

The Reds would ultimately go on to drop points and give Arsenal a chance to claw themselves back into the title race.

The miss is the final straw for a majority of Reds supporters when it comes to the misfiring forward.

One supporter said that he would “genuinely celebrate Nunez leaving more than any potential Premier League title.”

Another commented that they “never want to see Nunez play” for the Anfield outfit ever again.

Those Liverpool supporters may get their wish sooner rather than later with Saudi interest in the 25-year-old refusing to go away.

The Anfield club rejected a bid for Al-Nassr in the winter transfer window but interest is expected to be resurrected in the summer.

It just hasn’t clicked for the Reds ace in his three seasons on Merseyside and it is time for both parties to cut their losses.

With Liverpool reportedly keen on a move for Alexander Isak, Nunez would find himself further down the pecking order under Arne Slot if he was to stay.

Meanwhile, the Reds would be better off with the Swedish forward to ease the burden on Mohamed Salah, if he stays at the club, or if he leaves they will need a new superstar in attack and the Newcastle man fits the bill.
