Liverpool ‘Crisis’: Richard Keys baffled by Anfield situation – ‘I’m reading…’

Richard Keys was left baffled by the reaction to Liverpool’s 2-2 draw against Aston Villa on Wednesday.

The Reds have been in excellent form since the start of the season and are sat eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

While their game against Aston Villa on Wednesday ended up finishing as a frustrating draw, Liverpool ultimately earned a decent point against a tough opponent in their bid to claim the title.

Keys took to social media after the game to question some of the opinions he had seen about the game, especially given the strong position Liverpool find themselves in.

Richard Keys believes Liverpool draw v Aston Villa was a ‘very good’ outcome

While some Reds fans would have expected Liverpool to leave Villa Park with all three points to their name, in the end, a point does their title hopes no harm and leaves Arsenal still needing to be the ones chasing.

Darwin Nunez, unfortunately, missed an absolute sitter that could earned Slot’s men a crucial three points, which was admittedly a frustration.

However, taking to X (20 February), Keys hit back at Liverpool’s critics and said that the 2-2 draw against the Villans was a solid result for them, especially in the context of Manchester City being knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid.

“We witnessed the end of an era last night yet I’m reading Liverpool are on the edge of a crisis – that they’re ‘wobbling’ I know which result I’d rather have had,” he wrote.

“When the dust settles a point at Villa will be a very good outcome.”

Arne Slot needs to keep the Reds on track

A fair chunk of Liverpool’s fortunes this season have come due to Mohamed Salah being in some of the best form of his career.

The attacker has been one of the best players in the top flight this season and has already scored 24 Premier League goals this season.

Without him among their ranks, it feels like the Reds would be nowhere near as dominant as they have been this term and would likely not be sitting at the top of the table.

However, if the Merseyside outfit or Salah end up losing sight of their goals, Liverpool could end up missing out on their chance to bring the Premier League title back to Anfield.

Which, realistically, is the last thing that anyone involved with the club wants, but, if Slot can keep his team on course and in the purple patch of form they’ve shown, it feels like everything will start to fall in place for the Dutchman and his team once and for all.
