Gabby Agbonlahor shares what Liverpool need after Alan Brazil ‘Wobble’ verdict
Gabby Agbonlahor has shared how many points he thinks Liverpool need from their upcoming games against Aston Villa and Manchester City to stay as the favourites to win the Premier League title.
The Reds have been one of the most dominant teams in Europe this season with the Merseyside outfit topping both the Premier League and Champions League tables.
There have obviously been a couple of hiccups here and there such as their clashes against PSV and Plymouth Argyle but more often than not, Arne Slot has led his men to a victory.
Abgonlahor shared his thoughts on what Slot’s men need from their next two Premier League games to stay as the favourites to win the title.

Agbonlahor believes Liverpool don’t need to beat both Aston Villa and Manchester City
Since Slot came in to replace Jurgen Klopp at Anfield, things have gone rather swimmingly.
The Dutchman has led the Reds to multiple dominant performances across all competitions and has proven that the Merseyside outfit are one of the strongest teams in world football at the moment.
However, while speaking live on talkSPORT (19 February, 09:23am), Alan Brazil and Agbonlahor shared their thoughts on what the Reds need to do to stay as the favourites for the Premier League title this season.
“Liverpool showing signs of a wobble, tonight they’ve got Villa and then [Manchester] City on Sunday, how many points do Liverpool need to stay favourites [for the title] out of those two games?” Brazil asked.
To which Agbonlahor replied: “I think four would be a great return out of those games.
“We have to remember that Arsenal have got tough games, [Nottingham] Forest away coming up, West Ham at home, there are games that Arsenal can drop points but Man City are a better team now with the signings they’ve made and the players coming back from injury.
“They won’t be a roll-over at the weekend.”
Arne Slot could become instant Liverpool hero
At the moment, it’s unclear how things are going to end up going when the final game of the Premier League season comes around.
If things stay as they are at the moment, it’s hard to see how Slot won’t already be seen as a Liverpool hero.
Position | Team | Points | Goal difference |
1st | Liverpool | 60 | +36 |
2nd | Arsenal | 53 | +29 |
3rd | Nottingham Forest | 47 | +12 |
4th | Manchester City | 44 | +17 |
5th | Bournemouth | 43 | +15 |
Even though Agbonlahor believes Liverpool only need four points from their next two games, the Reds’ goal should be to beat both Unai Emery and Pep Guardiola’s men.
The extra six points would help further cement Liverpool’s spot at the top of the table and prove that they’re there to stay.
Of course, only time will tell what the future holds but with the Premier League games that Liverpool still need to play, these next two feel like some of the most important.
Because, while the Cityzens may be 16 points adrift of the top spot, Liverpool missing out on adding an extra three points to their tally could put Arsenal in a prime position to pip them to first place.
