Matheus Cunha ‘to welcome Liverpool transfer now’ amid latest Wolves development

Wolves star Matheus Cunha caught the eye with an excellent strike against Liverpool on Sunday.

Despite falling to a 2-1 defeat for the Midlands club, the Brazilian was on excellent form and capped that off with a top goal which left Anfield shocked.

The 25-year-old gave Ryan Gravenberch the slip before curling a superb effort into the bottom corner, showing exactly why he’s been so highly rated this campaign.

With this strike in mind, Arne Slot and Co. could be in line to make a summer move happen which may have been given the green light.

Martin Allen backs Matheus Cunha to accept Liverpool move

Given the uncertainty surrounding Mohamed Salah and his contract right now, the Reds wouldn’t be blamed for sounding out new attacking options.

It is safe to say that the L4 outfit could make an excellent addition in the shape of the Wolves forward despite not being a like-for-like alternative.

Former Leicester City and Brentford manager Martin Allen believes the Old Gold have acted positively to tie him down to a new deal but an offer from Anfield could be too good for Cunha to turn down.

Speaking exclusively to Liverpool News, Allen said: “He is a good player, that lad has got talent.

He is a match-winner, he can change games and when Liverpool are playing against teams who play deep, you need someone like Cunha to unlock the doors to win games.

He’s got pace, he’s got belief and technical ability so there’ll be lots of clubs who will want him.

Wolves have done well to tie him down to a new contract but if the big clubs like Liverpool come jumping in, he will want to play at a higher level and I believe he can do that.

Matheus Cunha could thrive at Liverpool

There is no doubt that forward options could prove to be a priority for Slot ahead of next season after making limited signings in his first two windows in charge.

Darwin Nunez has come under fire at times this campaign and as a result, a new forward to compete in a range of positions could make sense.

There aren’t many better options out there right now than Cunha who has been one of the only shining lights in a dull season for Wolves this campaign.

Given how excellent he has been and after his goal at Anfield, there is no doubt that a switch to L4 could ultimately suit both parties.
