Arsene Wenger reveals what he’s praying for in new Liverpool prediction
Arsene Wenger has admitted he is praying for Arsenal after making a Liverpool prediction.
Arne Slot has taken absolutely no time to adapt to life at Liverpool and is handling the transition from Jurgen Klopp brilliantly having already got the Reds to the Carabao Cup Final.
The Reds also sit at the top of the Premier League, seven points clear of Arsenal in second place.
Arsene Wenger calls Liverpool favourites
Although Liverpool currently occupies the top spot, the season is not over yet and there is still an opportunity for Arsenal to win the title.
However, the Reds are in unstoppable form, proving in the 2-1 win against Wolves on Sunday that they can come away with all three points, even without putting in their best performance.
In addition to this, Slot has a generally clean bill of health with Cody Gakpo’s injury not expected to keep him out for too long, which allows the boss to use the squad depth to his advantage.
Arsenal, on the other hand, are facing injury issues that have left them without a recognised striker which does put them on the back foot.
Despite wanting his beloved Arsenal to win the title, Wenger admitted he can’t see Liverpool throwing it away as he told beIN Sports: “Look, it’s simple like they said.
“They need to lose games but now we have 25 games played and Liverpool lost one so they will have to lose three at least in the next 13 games.
“At the moment, that looks unlikely unless they collapse but until now they lost only one game. So they are the super favourite. And on top of that, Arsenal now have to make the perfect run. I pray, I pray but I have to improve the quality of my praying.”
Liverpool have the Premier League title in their sights
Slot has shown himself to be a very measured and level-headed manager, minus a slight lapse when he received a red card in the Merseyside Derby draw at Everton.
Nevertheless, you would imagine that the boss will not be getting ahead of himself and will be encouraging his side to keep calm with nothing won until it’s mathematically confirmed.
However, as Wenger points out, it would take a monumental collapse at Anfield to see the Reds fall away from the title this term and invite the North London outfit back into the race.
The Merseysiders have shown their ability to get results without being at their best and given the quality of the players on their side, they still can produce above-average performances even if not at the top of their own game.
In his first season as Liverpool boss, Slot could lead his side to at least a Premier League and Carabao Cup double with the Champions League still a possibility too.
This suggests that there are only more positive times to come under the management of the Dutchman.
