Kostas Tsimikas can ‘take Liverpool chance’ after what Robertson did v Everton

Kostas Tsimikas has struggled to overhaul Andy Robertson in the Liverpool starting line-up this season.

The Greek international has made 22 appearances in all competitions for the Reds this season, with 12 of them coming as a starter.

The 28-year-old has started just three matches in the Premier League as Arne Slot has preferred Robertson who has started 21 league games.

However, after how the Scotland captain performed in the 2-2 draw against Everton, the backup may get a chance to start against Wolves on Sunday (16 February).

Andy Robertson flops in Liverpool draw against Everton

Andy Robertson has struggled to maintain the levels he showed when becoming a Reds legend under Jurgen Klopp this season.

This was evident in the draw at Goodison Park as the Scottish international was booked for kicking the ball away after conceding a free-kick and was hooked for Tsimikas after 69 minutes.

The veteran won just two of the four ground duels that he contested for a 50 per cent success rate as he struggled to deal with the Blues’ pace on the wing.

Tsimikas can take Liverpool chance against Wolves

Kostas Tsimikas has been forced to settle for a bit-part role for the majority of his Anfield career, however, he may be able to snatch the starting spot from Robertson if he is given a chance to start against the Molineux outfit.

In a 21-minute cameo against the Toffees, the ‘Greek Scouser’ as he is affectionately known, recorded a 75 per cent pass accuracy and made two passes into the final third, half of the Scotsman’s total in less than a third of the minutes. [Fotmob]

The former Olympiakos man made two clearances and won the only aerial duel that he contested for a 100 per cent success rate against the Blues.

Given the extent of Robertson’s decline, surely Tsimikas can force his way into the starting team as the Reds chase Champions League and Premier League glory.

If he cannot displace the Scot, he may find himself looking for a new club in the summer transfer window.
