Ian Wright and Michael Owen react as Arsenal close gap on Liverpool
Liverpool are the league leaders and favourites to win the title but Arsenal are still in with a fight.
The Gunners scored two late goals against Leicester City to reduce the gap to just four points.
Arne Slot’s side obviously have a game in hand but Mikel Arteta’s men are breathing right down their necks, waiting to capitalise on any opportunity.
Michael Owen makes Liverpool admission as Arsenal beat Leicester City
Both Michael Owen and Ian Wright were in the Premier League Productions’ studio after the game to discuss the title race.
The former Gunners striker believes that Arteta’s side needed that win to keep the title race alive and it means a lot to them given the injuries.
Wright said: “They got there in the end and it is by any means necessary (to keep the title race alive) with the injuries they’ve got.
Owen then responded: “Arsenal are in great form. They are keeping Liverpool honest.”
The Reds take on Wolves on Sunday, 16 February, and a win would see them go seven points clear once again.
Arne Slot needs to keep his players focused right until the end
Slot knows that while his side have been the best team this season, the job is far from done.
There have been nervy moments but more often than not, they have managed to get the job done amid adversity.
Replacing Jurgen Klopp was never going to be easy but the Dutchman has done a remarkable job in keeping standards high.
The quality of football has also been unbelievable but they still need to win more games to mathematically secure the title.
Mo Salah has been in incredible form and despite all the talk about his contract, he has stayed professional and led by example.
Virgil van Dijk too, in a similar situation, has not let that affect his game and he’s been a rock at the back for the Reds.
The Anfield faithful will be hoping that the Champions League does not cause distraction or fatigue and that their side can go on and secure the top flight crown.

Shortly after Wolves, the Reds play Aston Villa at Villa Park and that gives them the opportunity to go 10 points clear provided they win both their games.
