Premier League reject request in Aston Villa v Liverpool update
Liverpool are preparing for a trip to face Aston Villa on Wednesday after the latest update from the Premier League.
The Reds confirmed a place in the League Cup final with a 4-0 win against Tottenham at Anfield which meant that an away clash against the Villans had to be rescheduled to Wednesday 19 February.
This comes just three days after Arne Slot’s side are set to welcome Wolves to L4 (16 February) in a change which has since caused plenty of controversy.

Given that both sides have various cup and Champions League commitments to deal with in February, it comes as a surprise that this fixture was brought forward.
Unai Emery’s men are currently scheduled to play just one Premier League fixture in March while the L4 club have two, leaving plenty of time for a rearranged fixture.
This has seen the Villans make a request to the league organisers to move the game at Villa Park to a later date.
John Percy has reported via X (14 February) that this request has been denied and will leave the West Midlands outfit with 5 fixtures in 14 days.
By comparison, the Merseysiders have three and also could have benefitted from a break to avoid fixture congestion.

It has to be said that this change will be frustrating to Slot and his players considering the Everton draw was also rescheduled to midweek.
This resulted in Curtis Jones being send off by Michael Oliver and is likely to have had an impact on general fitness and tiredness.
Despite this, the Reds have to get up and go again ahead of their clash against Wolves who last played six days ago against Blackburn Rovers (9 February).
With that being said, Emery will be fuming by this news as his squad, particularly in defence, has begun to be decimated by injuries.
With just one fit, recognised centre-back available right now, there is an ideal chance for Liverpool to pounce regardless of this snub from the Premier League.
