Arne Slot shares Liverpool injury ‘doubt’ ahead of Wolves clash
Liverpool may be missing one key star for the Premier League clash with Wolves on Sunday.
The Reds host the Molineux outfit, who are just two points above the relegation zone, on 16 February looking to bounce back from a disappointing draw with Everton (12 February) in which Arne Slot received a red card.
Their margin at the top of the Premier League could be reduced to four points by the time that the clash kicks off with Arsenal in action on Saturday (15 February).
The Merseysiders are expected to get back to winning ways but their task may have been made harder by a new update.
Arne Slot confirms Liverpool injury doubt for Wolves clash
Arne Slot has confirmed that Cody Gakpo could miss the contest with Vitor Pereira’s side with a problem that he picked up in the Merseyside derby.
The Dutchman, speaking in his pre-match press conference (14 February) confirmed that Joe Gomez and Tyler Morton will be absent and gave the update on Gakpo afterwards.
He said: “Cody is a bit of a doubt as well, so let’s wait [to see] how he is today. I had to take him off because of an injury, he got a knock, so let’s see how he is today.”
Gakpo absence would be a huge blow for Liverpool
Gakpo’s absence would be a major blow for the Reds given the poor form of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez and the injury issues of Diogo Jota.
The Dutchman is the Anfield outfit’s second top goal contributor in the Premier League behind only Mohamed Salah, who is enjoying arguably his best season yet with 36 contributions in the league alone.
The 25-year-old has notched 11 goals and assists in the league and his form has been a key asset as Slot’s side chase the title.

The Netherlands international has notched a goal in each of his last eight starts at Anfield, including a brace against Ipswich and strikes against Manchester City and Manchester United.
Missing the Dutch ace, especially given his stunning form at home will be a concern given the fact that Nunez and Diaz have failed to score in their last seven and ten matches respectively.
Jota has only just returned from an injury suffered after the 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest (14 January) and has only featured for 90 minutes once since he came back, the 1-0 loss to Plymouth in the FA Cup on 9 February.
Therefore Slot will be hopeful that Gakpo can overcome the issue and be ready to start against Wolves.
