Alexander Isak wants to sign for Liverpool in Newcastle exit shock

Liverpool face Newcastle twice within the next month as they look to continue their charge towards three trophies.

The Reds host the Magpies on February 26 in Premier League action before the two sides meet again at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final (16 March).

They will have to defend against Alexander Isak in those clashes, who has notched 19 goals and five assists in 28 appearances in all competitions this season.

The Swedish forward has been mooted with a move to Anfield by Jamie Carragher with Arne Slot set to implement his own stamp on the squad he inherited from Jurgen Klopp.

Newcastle star Isak interested in Liverpool move

Carragher believes that his former side are desperate for a centre-forward and that the player would pick the Reds over a move to Arsenal if they win the Premier League title.

According to a report from TEAMtalk (13 February), the 50-cap international is very interested in moving to Anfield in the summer transfer window.

The outlet claims that the Merseysiders are considering a move for the Newcastle star but need a clear signal from the player before launching an official bid.

Slot set to overhaul Liverpool front line

The Liverpool boss is frustrated with the constant injury issues that have hampered Diogo Jota and could consider selling the Portuguese forward if a suitable offer arrives.

There is also uncertainty around Mohamed Salah’s future on Merseyside, with the Egyptian yet to sign a new contract.

Meanwhile, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez have failed to impress for Liverpool this campaign, despite the Reds leading the Premier League and looking like the favourites to win the Champions League at the moment.

The latter continues to be linked with a switch to Saudi Arabia and Al-Nassr are set to revive their interest in the Uruguayan ace when the transfer window reopens.

With the Anfield outlet’s attacking options facing uncertain futures, a summer move for Isak, who is arguably the best striker in the world right now, could make perfect sense if the price is right.
