Henry Winter stunned by one Liverpool star in drama-packed draw v Everton

Henry Winter has been left wowed by the “ruthless” performance of one Liverpool star in their Premier League draw against Everton on Wednesday.

The arch-rivals faced off in the last-ever Merseyside derby to be held at Goodison Park in a game that ended in a quite shocking manner.

Everton rescued a 2-2 draw thanks to a last-minute strike from James Tarkowski which sent the blue sections of Goodison Park into bedlam.

Liverpool had thought there was a potential offside or even a foul in the build-up to the goal but in the end, VAR ruled in the favour of David Moyes’ men and the goal was allowed to stand.

Despite ending the game disappointed and having three men sent off, Liverpool can have their heads held up high for their performance with Henry Winter lauding one player.

Liverpool should have beaten Everton

For most of the second half, Liverpool were the better team and if it wasn’t for some late carnage, the Reds would have left with a huge three points.

While the derby had a lot more riding on it in the last one to ever be held at Goodison Park, Winter believes Mohamed Salah rose to the very top yet again.

“Mo-mentous occasion. Salah’s goal, brilliant, sharp finish,” he wrote via X.

“Everton been playing well, troubling Liverpool but Salah ruthless.”

Mohamed Salah needs to stay on at Anfield

If there’s one thing that Slot should have learnt from his first season in charge of Liverpool, it’s how much his side needs the Egyptian King to stay in Merseyside for another couple of years.

The attacker’s contract expires at the end of the season and, to be quite frank, it doesn’t feel like the Reds could afford the former Roma man to exit, especially with the inconsistent form that some of their other attackers have shown this term.

Salah is by far and away Liverpool’s best player and when he isn’t chosen to start or isn’t part of the 11 on the pitch, it’s more than clear how much he means to the Reds.

He’s been Liverpool’s star attacker for years now and he’s showing no signs of slowing down.

Only time will tell if Liverpool and Salah can come to an agreement but if they do, it’ll likely be one of the best moves the Reds will have made in their recent history.
