Conor Bradley in ‘brutal Liverpool reality check’ after what happened v Everton
Liverpool star Conor Bradley has often been hailed as the perfect replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold if the England star departs.
Alexander-Arnold is out of contract with Liverpool in the summer and is free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs, and the Reds seemingly have a ready-made replacement.
Northern Ireland international Bradley has made 20 appearances for the Reds this season when Alexander-Arnold has been injured or rested.
However, the 2-2 draw with Everton on Wednesday (12 February) proved that he is not the finished article yet and still has a long way to go to start permanently for the Anfield outfit.
Conor Bradley not ready to replace Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool
The 21-year-old experienced his first taste of the ferocious nature of the Merseyside derby in the clash at Goodison Park, with Alexander-Arnold only fit enough for the bench.
However, Bradley struggled with the pressure as he was nearly handed a second yellow for a foul on Abdoulaye Doucoure and was hooked by Arne Slot after 61 minutes.
The Northern Ireland star won just three of eight ground duels for a 38 per cent success rate and committed three fouls in the contest [Fotmob].
While he did make five recoveries, he won just one tackle for a 50 per cent success rate and made two clearances.
From an attacking perspective, he created zero chances, made three passes into the final third and was accurate with just 20 per cent of his five long balls attempted.
It is clear that he is not yet at a level where the Reds could be comfortable losing Alexander-Arnold and relying on Bradley when they are contending for Premier League and Champions League titles.

Despite that, he is a dependable back-up and one poor performance should not dampen the hype surrounding his potential.
Replacing Alexander-Arnold is a near-impossible task for Liverpool
Replacing Alexander-Arnold is a near-impossible task for Liverpool if they cannot agree on a new deal with the Three Lions ace.
He is one of the best players in world football with the ball at his feet, thanks to his stunning passing ability and vision.
He is often slandered for his defensive lapses but criticism is exaggerated and what he brings while on the ball makes him indispensable. The Anfield club therefore need to sort out a new contract – they simply cannot lose the academy graduate.
