Arne Slot touchline ban twist emerges after Liverpool draw v Everton
Liverpool and Everton ended the last-ever Merseyside derby at Goodison Park in quite shocking fashion.
The Reds were on the front foot for most of the second half and in the dying embers of the game, James Tarkowski blasted a rocket into the top right corner to rescue a point.
Arne Slot was raging at the 2-2 draw with Liverpool and Everton earning 41 wins each during each derby that has been played at Goodison.
Despite the entertaining football on show, it was overshadowed by the brawl between both teams after Abdoulaye Doucoure chose to celebrate in front of the Reds’ fans, which was something that Curtis Jones didn’t appreciate.
The scuffle may have started with just those two but by the end, everyone was giving it a go, including Slot who – along with Jones and Sipke Hulsfhoff – were sent off.
Although it was reported earlier on 13 February that the Dutchman would be serving a two-game touchline ban, a new update from Lewis Steele has said otherwise.
Arne Slot ban twist at Liverpool
Slot wasn’t allowed to speak to the media after the game because of his sending-off.
And, while the Premier League’s website said he’d be banned for two games, Steele has disproven that theory, even stating that Slot could be on the sidelines for the Reds’ next fixture against Wolves.
“Bit technical this, but as it stands, Arne Slot is not banned from the touchline for Wolves game. FA will review the refs’ report today and decide whether to charge him or not,” the Daily Mail journalist wrote on X.
“Depends on whether they deem it a ‘standard case’ with a set sanction or ‘non standard’ which results in a hearing.
“Because he has already served a touchline ban this season there is a chance it will be the latter. If so, very unlikely it is resolved before Sunday.
“So to conclude he could be in the dugout against Wolves and then be charged/banned/fined at a later date.
“Premier League website saying he was banned for two games was an error.”

Arne Slot is likely to be banned
Even though Slot wasn’t directly involved with the fight, it was what he said to referee Michael Oliver that seemingly got him sent off.
Tarkowski’s equaliser came in the dying embers of the game with VAR looking at it for both an offside and a potential foul in the build-up.
In the end, however, the verdict went Everton’s way and the spoils were shared between the two sides.
While the Merseyside derby will continue on like normal next season, it won’t be the same without one of the fixtures being held at Goodison Park.
The amount of history that has been created in that stadium between the two sides is quite frankly, unfathomable, especially in a modern-day stadium at Bramley Moore Dock.
