Premier League announce three Liverpool men sent off v Everton

The Premier League has confirmed that there were four red cards handed out following the 2-2 draw between Liverpool and Everton.

A breathtaking final few moments of the contest at Goodison Park were overshadowed by events after the final whistle as emotions boiled over (12 February).

Abdoulaye Doucoure went to the travelling supporters to celebrate in front of them in an incident that left Curtis Jones furious and led to a confrontation.

Michael Oliver issued several dismissals after the final whistle and the governing body have now confirmed the identities of the three Reds who went sent off.

The ugly post-match antics led to the referee having no choice but to take action against Doucoure and three of the Anfield outfit’s travelling party.

Arne Slot, Curtis Jones and assistant manager Sipke Hulshoff were the Reds who received red cards following the emotional scenes.

Their actions will likely lead to a ban for the clash with Wolves (16 February) which could be extended further.

Liverpool furious with draw at Everton

The Reds were understandably furious after the full-time whistle as Doucoure attempted to goad their fans after the late Blues equaliser.

However, they will be more angry with the fact that they missed the chance to go nine points clear at the top of the Premier League.

Their gap at the Premier League summit is seven points after the disappointing result to their local rivals and any potential bans for Slot, his assistant, and Jones will further rub salt in the wounds.

It was by no means a devastating blow to the Merseysiders chances of lifting the Premier League title but they will rue the fact that they were leading 2-1 until the 97th minute.

The result may also give Arsenal hope going into the run-in as the Reds face tough clashes with Wolves, Aston Villa, Manchester City and Newcastle in a ten-day period.

Slot’s side still hold a commanding lead at the top but it is not an unbridgeable gap and could have been made stronger if they had held on at their arch-rivals’ famous old stadium.
