Liverpool ‘want player who quit Everton’ as Mohamed Salah replacements eyed
Liverpool are almost certain to be in the market for attacking reinforcements in the summer transfer window.
The Merseysiders are top of the Premier League and into the Champions League round of 16 after finishing first in the league-phase, while they have an EFL Cup final with Newcastle United to look forward to.
Despite this, Arne Slot’s side are expected to enter the market with uncertainty over Mohamed Salah’s future and questions over the form of Luis Diaz, plus the injury-prone nature of Diogo Jota.
Given those concerns, the Reds could be about to make a stunning swoop for a former Everton star when the window comes back around.
Liverpool could move for former Everton ace
Nice winger Mohamed Ali-Cho quit Everton in 2020 after failing to agree terms on a professional contract but could be set to make a shocking move back to Merseyside.
A report from TEAMtalk (11 February) claims that the Reds are considering a summer move for the former Toffee.
However, they also note that Cho only signed for the French outfit last summer and is contracted until 2028, so the Ligue 1 side could demand a large fee for the 21-year-old.
Who is Liverpool target Mohamed Ali-Cho?
The youngster started his career as part of Paris-Saint Germain’s academy before spending five years with the Reds’ local rivals.
However, the Blues could not tie Cho down and he left for Angers at the age of 16 in May 2020, where he notched four goals and one assist in 55 matches.
That earned the France Under-21s international ace a move to Real Sociedad in 2022 and he scored two goals and bagged three assists in 40 games for the Spanish outfit.

He returned to his homeland to join Nice in a £10million deal in January 2024 and has notched seven goals and seven assists in 45 matches, with five goals and three assists this campaign.
At just 21 years old, he is not the finished article by any means but he has electric pace and strong dribbling abilities, while his decision-making and finishing are improving. All things considered, he could potentially replace Diogo Jota or even Salah.
The Merseysiders have a history of taking a chance on developing attacking talents that have major potential, so this would be a sensible move if they can pull it off as Arne Slot looks to retool their firepower.
