Alexander-Arnold injury update shared, another ruled out for Liverpool clash v Everton

Liverpool have been one of the most dominant teams in the Premier League this season.

Their recent results, however, have left a couple of questions about whether they can continue their dominant run of form.

Over the last month, Arne Slot’s men have been beaten by both PSV and Plymouth Argyle.

While Liverpool’s second-string side may have played both games, it still feels like a lot more should have come from those who were chosen to start.

And with the last-ever Merseyside derby coming up against Everton on Wednesday, it feels like Slot might need all the firepower available to him in order to get a result.

Trent Alexander-Arnold injury update provided

Liverpool haven’t been crippled by injuries this season like some of their Premier League counterparts, but there have been a few stages in the season when key first-team players have missed out.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ibrahima Konate are the two names that initially come to mind when thinking about players who have been sidelined and, ahead of the Reds’ clash against the Toffees, Daily Mail journalist Lewis Steele has shared what Slot said regarding the Englishman’s availability.

“Trent Alexander-Arnold trained yesterday and will again today. ‘Have to see’ whether he is risked tomorrow, says Arne Slot,” he wrote via X (11 February).

“Joe Gomez definitely out.”

Liverpool need to be on top form against Everton

If the Merseyside derby wasn’t postponed due to the poor weather conditions back in February, it’s likely Liverpool fans would have felt much more confident about their chances.

On paper, the Reds have much more quality among their ranks than David Moyes’ men, but since the Scotsman was brought back to Goodison Park, it feels like they’ve been given a new lease of life and could well cause an upset.

And, with the game on 12 February being the last Merseyside derby that’s going to be held at Goodison Park, there’s no way that Everton won’t be gunning for an all-out war.

Which, after the recent form the Reds have shown, could be a cause for concern.

Slot will want to ensure that his team gets back to winning ways and prove that they’re still the most dominant force in the top flight.

Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk will likely be among those returning to the Reds’ starting XI on Wednesday, which in itself gives Liverpool a decent advantage.

Only time will tell what the future holds for the Merseyside outfit but one thing is certain, it’ll be an interesting affair.
