Mohamed Salah bombshell: Former Liverpool teammate expects forward to quit
Mohamed Salah is free to leave Liverpool as his contract expires at the end of the season.
The 32-year-old has yet to commit his future to Anfield, and he, along with Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, faces an uncertain futures on Merseyside.
Salah has been a leading force for Liverpool this term – he is on course for a record-breaking Premier League campaign with 21 goals and 13 assists in 23 outings thus far, and recently fired his side into a second consecutive Carabao Cup final.
However, speculation regarding a move to Saudi Arabia is rife, and one ex-Reds ace believes Salah’s career will continue away from Anfield.
Liverpool ‘do not respect’ Mohamed Salah
Richard Hughes will go down as the worst sporting director in Liverpool history if he allows Salah, Van Dijk, and Alexander-Arnold to depart at the end of the season.
The Reds chief has already suffered the wrath of the Liverpool supporters this season, as his lack of transfer business across two windows has become a hot topic of debate on Merseyside.
Should he tie down all three expiring stars at Anfield, or at least two, he can save face with the fanbase.
Although reports suggest Alexander-Arnold is destined for Real Madrid, the growing consensus is Salah will continue his seven-year stay at the Reds.
However, Salah’s former team-mate Dejan Lovren, in comments relayed by talkSPORT (10 February), has other ideas and believes Liverpool are showing a lack of respect to the Egyptian for allowing the saga to play out throughout the season.
“I want Mo Salah to stay at Liverpool, he wants to stay, But I came to the conclusion that they ‘the management’ do not respect him enough – or at least not as much as he believes he deserves.
“Yes, I think he is closer to leaving than staying at the moment. That’s my feeling about the situation. I hope things change because, honestly, I wish him the best.”
Mohamed Salah wants to stay at Anfield
Liverpool has the best player in world football, based on current form, quite literally begging to continue his career at Anfield – what is going on?
Jamie Carragher hit the nail on the head with his verdict that Salah is too ambitious to see out the rest of his career in the graveyard of Saudi Arabia and will want to continue breaking records with the Reds.
Darren Bent even dropped an intriguing bombshell, claiming that Liverpool had sorted two of the expiring contracts, which would explain the radio silence.

With all the noise surrounding Alexander-Arnold, should Salah and Van Dijk announce their intentions to stay, the pressure will be on the vice-captain to announce where his future lies.
The ongoing saga has already proven to be an unnecessary distraction for the Reds, and with so much to play for this season, it is not beneficial for anyone at Anfield.
However, the supporters want to know where the Merseyside outfit stands with their three biggest stars, and they deserve to know.
