AC Milan want to sign Darwin Nunez amid £50m Liverpool reveal

Arne Slot has had a successful start to life as Liverpool manager and supporters are delighted with how the transition from Jurgen Klopp’s tenure has gone.

However, whatever happens this term, the pressure will be on the new boss to create a long-term period of success and bring glory at home and abroad.

Therefore, it will be a big summer ahead for the Reds as they look to ensure they have a side strong enough to keep up the momentum while a number of star players are out of contract.

Darwin Nunez could leave Liverpool

Heading into the summer transfer window, one man whose future is being spoken about is Darwin Nunez.

Although the striker remains under contract at Anfield, there has been interest in Nunez from Saudi Arabia and now there could be a European move on the cards too.

According to Fichajes (9 February), AC Milan are eyeing up a move for Nunez after the conclusion of the current campaign as they look to strengthen their attack.

The report claims that the Italian outfit may be willing to offer up to £50million to gain his services which could convince the Merseyside club to sell as this aligns with their own interests too.

Darwin Nunez could be set for Liverpool exit

Given the Reds initially signed Nunez for £85million, the club would certainly be wary about losing him unless they could really afford to do so given they would be set to make a loss on the striker.

Furthermore, with Mohamed Salah one of the players out of contract at the end of the current campaign, Nunez’s future could be somewhat dependent on that.

If Liverpool were to lose the services of star man Salah ahead of the new campaign, this would surely make Slot’s side more reluctant to lose another forward before they were confident about who they might be able to bring in as a replacement in the squad to assist their aims going forward.

However, if the 25-year-old was surplus to requirements at Anfield, then you can certainly see why the Merseyside outfit would be prepared to cash in on Nunez and get him off the books.

In 32 appearances across all competitions this term, the forward has contributed six goals and five assists and, even accounting for the fact his appearances have been sporadic, there is a feeling that Nunez could contribute more.

Jamie Carragher has admitted that he is not sure Nunez is staking his claim well enough right now and suggested that he could be set for an exit from Liverpool at the end of the season.

The good thing for Slot regarding this transfer is that his side are under no pressure to sell or make any decisions before they are ready meaning they can continue to assess the situation as things progress.
