Liverpool v Tottenham: Durham shares what could be ‘key’ in EFL Cup tie

Adrian Durham believes that Tottenham could have a chance of beating Liverpool again in their Carabao Cup tie on Thursday.

In the first leg of the semi-final, Spurs left the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a one-goal advantage after beating Arne Slot’s men 1-0.

This time around, it’s anyone’s guess how the game could end up but, talkSPORT presenter Durham believes that the team Slot chooses to send out will be a “key” part of the fixture.

“I think a lot will depend on what team Arne Slot picks tonight before the game, I think that’s the key, I think that might give Spurs a chance,” he said live on talkSPORT (6 February, 07:13am).

“Next week is the Merseyside derby and I think that was a bit of a gimme until David Moyes returned a couple of weeks ago because they’re on fire Everton.

“Arne Slot will have that in the back of his mind and I think he may pick players who he thinks will win the tie but it could be something that really generates some confidence in Spurs if they see a Liverpool side that’s not full-strength.”

Liverpool need to go all out against Tottenham

Liverpool have been one of the most dominant teams in England this season with the Reds topping both the Premier League and the Champions League.

While not that many new faces have been added to the Reds’ ranks this season, it feels like the Merseyside outfit have banded together once again and have managed to put in a rather impressive performance.

However, the last time they faced Spurs, Liverpool were nowhere near their best and it feels like a lot more could come from them.

While dropping out of the Carabao Cup wouldn’t be the end of the world for the Reds, it would be nice to see them lift a trophy so early into Slot’s reign.

If they go all out and out their best starting XI, with the current injuries they’re dealing with, it’s hard to see how Ange Postecoglou’s men would be able to hold onto their lead for all that long.
